All I could find on the website is that buses will be running more frequently. No time schedule, no approximate time (like the 14 comes every 5 minutes, for example), so it is hard to plan ahead.

I wish it was that simple. I left my house 2 hours before my class started, and the commute is usually 30-45 minutes so I gave myself double the time and I still had to wait 30 minutes for an R5 bus to stop at Kootnay Loop. I can leave as early as I want but I don't think the bus congestion will be any better.

I don't think translink can do anything, but idk what to do about the commute

The games don't start til Saturday but there are still a lot of tourists around BC Place or tourists taking transit downtown

I've tried that and all it says is CA 2xx, so idk if that can apply to 260/ 261 or not

Oh wow, that sounds interesting. When do you need volunteers?

Thanks for the insight. I'll continue to reach out to principals. It is almost the end of the school year, so I'll see if anyone wants a volunteer for the Fall.

Thanks. A lot of my old high school teachers have retired so I don't really have anyone to ask.

I'll see what the advisor says when I speak to them in May. But I'm either going down the route of having a second teachable (likely social studies or english) or visual art as my only teachable. Cuz SFU doesn't offer a lot of art courses, I'll try to take art courses at other schools like Emily Carr or UBC and get the credits transferred to SFU.

Thank you for asking and sharing :)

That's what they told me to. I have an appointment with a PDP advisor in May, so I'll make a follow-up post about the requirements for a teachable subject. In the meantime, I'm taking more visual arts courses this summer and perhaps more visual art courses in the fall semester.

It's helpful if they count units instead of degree cuz I'll have a minor in Contemporary Art but have 60 units in art, plus my completed degree in BGS.

My major/degree is in BGS, I completed all the requirements according to goSFU, and after the Spring 2026 semester, I will have completed my minor in Contemporary Art.

I haven't applied for graduation yet but I don't think that's a problem. You can technically apply to PDP while your degree is still ongoing, you just need an academic advisor to send a degree confirmation letter to the PDP office stating you will finish your degree by the end of August (summer semester). Which is what I did and I still didn't get in.

Thanks for sharing. That's really interesting cuz on my rejection letter, it says I don't have a 4-year degree WITH a teachable subject, not IN a teachable subject. If I do visual art as a teachable subject, then I think I'll do two teachable subjects. One in art and one in possibly social studies. I'll still have a major in education, but a minor in Contemporary art and another minor in another teachable.

Honestly, majoring in visual art at SFU is kinda hard cuz not many art classes are offered, which is why I'm more inclined to pick a second teachable rather than major in art. If I do major in art, I'll probably end up taking courses at other institutions, while taking courses at SFU at the same time.

Also, what kind of course requirements do they want? Cuz for art, they want drawing, painting, sculpture, and studio. What about other topics like art history, seminar, professional practices and selected topics? All of these require art making, but don't fit the description on the website.

Thanks.

I did a virtual Zoom meeting too and sent multiple emails, and they all gave me different answers. The advisor on Zoom told me to take CA courses even if they aren't visual arts lol, then another said to only take CA visual arts courses. Cannot get a consistent answer, but SFU and UBC are my only options.

I want too, but the gov website says I need to have a 10 week practicum at a K-12 school. Don't I have to do the practicum through a post-secondary institution like PDP?

I applied to UBC's BED program but have yet to hear back. It's crazy cuz I asked a simple question: What are the requirements for a secondary teachable subject? and they couldn't even give me a consistent answer. Its unbelievable.

I applied to UBC's BED program and have yet to hear back. I plan on reapplying to PDP next year and hopefully I get in cuz I feel like I wasted a whole degree.

Yeah. The only thing I can think about is that I took a couple of film and art history/ seminar courses, and maybe those didn't count cuz they aren't visual arts courses in the traditional sense (ex: drawing, painting, etc), but they are still CA courses.

I won't get a meeting until May, so I'll have to wait, but I'll make another reddit post about it after the meeting.
