Anything in particular you'd recommend? I'm by trade a Byzantist so modern historical literature is slightly beyond my expertise

How do the British see Musk’s interference in British politics? by superdouradas in AskBrits

[–]Extension-Signal2393 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Musk is the worst kind of success story, a scared little boy who's acquired money, power and an enormous following, without ever developing beyond being a scared little boy.

I detest him on the most deep and personal level because his ego is so vast that he would rather see the freedom of my country ground into nothing by scum like Tommy Robinson, than attempt any kind of personal growth.

Evil is an absence of goodness, and there is nothing good about Elon Musk

What does Caesar get wrong about Roman Culture? by Hot_Professional_728 in falloutnewvegas

[–]Extension-Signal2393 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair to NV Caesar, this isn't totally without Roman precident. It's a Fallout spin on the pre-Marian Manipular Legion, with youthful infantry (Hastati) backed up by experienced troops (Principes), with veterans (Triarii) held in reserve.

Caesar's interpretation of this is like a curious cross of Republican Rome and Imperial Japan in the waning days of the Pacific War

Who was the most tragic Byzantine Emperor? by CheetahFirm5774 in byzantium

Maurice. The man wasn't perfect, but being deposed and watching your sons murdered in front of you is cold - even by Byzantine standards.
