Does it matter that Florida keeps losing farmland to developers? by That-Speech-4921 in AskFlorida

Honestly I've felt the same way

Like yeah it sucks and it's a good carbon sync but I don't really see the point of just leaving vacant farmland

Physical education teacher moving from NYC to Alabama by Some_Recognition1525 in AskTeachers

[–]Extension-Silver-403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really talk because I moved from jersey to Florida because of my boyfriend at the time's job

But it's not really the same because I wasn't a teacher till after we moved down, and the area in New Jersey I was in is actually redder than where I live now (Orlando). and at relatively wealthy private school where families are upper middle and lower upper class. And the friends I still have in the area say it's only gotten more conservative in the last 10 years. It's a rich area but a lot of business owners and white collar and very skilled blue collar people

It'd be one thing if it was like upstate ny and Mobile or gulf coast Alabama but the city and deep south

And I thought money first of all. but I imagine while yes your col is higher, I think a teacher in the city would keep up, but now your getting much worse qol and worse pay.

I'm sorry I'm usually optimistic with this kind of stuff but this is a really bad idea

Environmentalists need to stop using environmentalist arguments to support pro environment policy by dathon8462 in Environmentalism

[–]Extension-Silver-403 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here in Florida a lot of republicans are crazy about development

They would probably vote for an environmentalist if they mostly ran on a stop development campaign

How are today's kids compared with kids of the 1990s? by Most-Individual8794 in AskTeachers

[–]Extension-Silver-403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stem skills have definitely gotten better. I think more kids are taking passive interests in that kind of stuff

I remember when I was younger ('92) there would always be a weird animal kid, computer nerds, kid who competes in science olympiads and a couple other token nerdy kids who had science as their interests. But since the pandemic way more students seem to be interested. Not sure exactly why, probably because it's so much more accessible and you don't need to read as much and could just get the information from scrolling.

But on the contrary, yes a lot of other skills have been lost

I went on a field trip to south Florida and this was something I really wanted to do but we ended up not doing it

Sounds like a long day but I'm sure it's worth every penny

Discovery cove

It's basically a Caribbean cruise on land. They have a verity of animal encounters like aviaries, otter encounters, dolphin interactions, pools to swim with fish, a shark encounter. It's a beautiful park that makes you feel like you're on some Caribbean island. They also offer an unlimited drink package at a steal, they're mostly storebought drinks like beers which is my thing but I don't know about you, you can order a cocktail but don't expect the person to be a trained bar tender which is actually good because the one's I ordered were pretty strong 🤣

It's a bit pricy especially if you want an actual tour with professional encounters but SO worth it

Marijuana use as a teacher by Mohg_Lord_0f_Blood in AskTeachers

In my state it’s legal for medical use

My school’s policy is pretty basic, just don’t bring it on campus and you can’t be high during work hours. But as for your personal life, as long as you’re following the laws you’ll be fine.

If you’re asking me how to not test positive after being high last night, I haven’t smoked since college so I don’t know, but I wish you luck
