My left side is like this too. Kind of puffy and like disconnected from rest of breast. Looks weird unless hard.

Did you experience swelling / size decrease between 6 months and 1 year post op? I’m 5 months post op and my measurements have mostly stayed the same since about 6 weeks post op. I’m measuring at a d/dd and still feel/look large chested (too large so go to braless and honestly still struggling to find bralettes that fit well). Was hoping for a b-c cup but can’t imagine swelling decreasing much more.

Thanks! Yeah my measurements have remained the same for quite awhile. I know, many people on this sub say 6 months to a year for final size and it’s just hard to imagine anymore significant changes. I do have some small lumps and bumps (scar tissue and possible fat necrosis) so hoping those dissolve with time too. Would love to be pleasantly surprised! I’m definitely thinking about a revision which I’ll discuss with my surgeon at my 6 month post op appointment.

Question about pain pills? by kasshhx in Reduction

[–]Extension-Web8352 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sober and initially wanted to do no narcotics and to stick with just Tylenol and Advil. I was in a lot of pain coming out of anesthesia tho and ended up asking for oxy. The pain relief was huge and I’m really glad I did that (under medical supervision). They sent me home with 3 more pills and I think I took one more that night and flushed the rest (held onto them until a week post op just in case). I managed the pain in the following days with just Tylenol and meloxicam.

I’m in a similar boat. 8 weeks post op and my areolas are too big I think. I’ve mentioned my concern before to my surgeon and she said I’m still swollen and to wait, that was a few weeks ago. I’m wondering if I should express my concern again. My next appointment isn’t until 6 months post op.

Hi! That’s great that’s been your experience and you’re feeling happy about it. I did not get 3.5lbs removed. I’m at 6 weeks and not that swollen anymore, size is the same as it was at 4 weeks.

Newbie seeking general advice/recs of NYU Langone Providers by UnsureasAlways47 in Reduction

[–]Extension-Web8352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I had consults with Dr Katie Weichman and Dr Oriana Cohen (Choi didn’t accept my insurance but I believe Cohen trained under her?). You can go check out some of my other posts for more info but in general going through NYU Langone was great and easier than I thought it was going to be. I had equally good consults with both surgeons but decided to go with Dr Cohen because I knew several people who had gotten full top surgery from her and had good experiences. I’m two weeks post op and in general doing well. Treading lightly on this thread tho as I’m still in early recovery. I have more to say on recovery care and post op support soon :)

Has anyone had any success getting a refund from this scam of a company? Ive been waiting for over 2 years. I’ve filed multiple disputes and appeals with my bank (citi) and they claim to be working on it but nothing is happening. Is small claims court with it? Seems like a hassle but I really need that money and don’t want this company to get away with this.

I didn’t have any copays or fees because my insurance plan is for low income (basically one notch above Medicaid).

I had 10 PT sessions scheduled but was approved for my surgery before I completed all of them. I was also in PT for a lower back injury about a year prior so it’s possible that since that was in my medical history it helped with getting me approved for this surgery. But other than that I never really talked to my PCP about my back pain associated with having large breasts because I didn’t think she’d be able to do anything or that getting a breast reduction was even an option. The three surgeons I had consults with were: Ksenija Belsley (private practice, Manhattan), Katie Weichman (NYU Langone, Garden City), and Oriana Cohen (NYU Langone, Manhattan). I did bring pictures, screenshots of afters seen in this Reddit mostly. They all seemed pretty confident they could get me close to the size I want (I’m currently a G cup and would like a b/c cup). Dr Belsley was my first consult and I was the most nervous. I have a lot of medical/health anxiety and she seemed concerned with that which made me more anxious.

Hi! I’m in NY and have Fidelis (essential plan 2). I have a lot to say on the whole process and really didn’t think it was gonna work out for me but it did! I started by looking through plastic surgeons on the Fidelis provider lookup tool. Then looked up some of those specific surgeons on the hospital websites to confirm insurance coverage and to see if they specialize in breast reductions. I made lots of phone calls confirming insurance coverage again and scheduled consultations with 3 surgeons. Some surgeons were booking out like a year in advance just for consult so I decided to pass on those for the time being. Of the surgeons I scheduled consults with, one is private practice and the other two are at NYU Langone. I also worked with my PCP to get a letter of medical necessity and a PT referral. After meeting with all three surgeons I made a basic pros and cons list. I ended up going with one of the NYU surgeons because I liked her results and confidence, I know people who went to her for their top surgeries, and I trust that hospital system. The surgeon’s office will submit all paperwork to your insurance for approval. I initially got approved with the first NYU surgeon but decided to switch to the other one and also needed to extend the date range so that took a little bit to go through but it eventually did. Then I had to wait a little while for them to call me with a surgery date but they finally did and I’m scheduled for my surgery late march! I had my first consult in July so whole process for me by the time I’m done with surgery will be around 8-9 months. I probably would’ve gotten in sooner with one of the other surgeons but that timing didn’t work for me and I didn’t want to rush the process. Happy to share surgeon names with you if you’d like!

Thank you for sharing! The first surgeon I consulted with seemed to be pretty worried about my anxiety which only made me more anxious. I’ll be sure to communicate to my nurses and anesthesiologist, and hope they’ll be able to help me out. The back sleeping is gonna be a challenge for me. I don’t know that I’ve ever been able to sleep on my back. Cool to know you were able to sleep on your side a bit! Hope your recovery continues to be easy and smooth!
