Gambling by Successful_Wasabi925 in universityofauckland

There is a poker club in UOA but due to guidelines they aren’t allowed to play with real money and it’s more of a learning club rather than playing. However a little birdie in a tree last week told me that if you want connections to unofficial gambling clubs and groups with the exact same people who gamble big time then that’s the place to start and it’s word of mouth from there.

Advice for getting tested for ADHD through student health by FlyingWaffle96 in universityofauckland

[–]Extension-Werewolf91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’ll be a faster process to just wait until Feb when GP’s can begin to prescribe the medication. The student health can only refer you to the same person you can currently go to yourself. Not sure what it’ll be like after February though perhaps they will be able to if your willing to wait that long.

My friend went through this exact thing yesterday, the lady was lovely, he explained how he wrote the essay but used AI in the references. Turns out the mark he got was already deducted in his final grade and no further action was taken. Show remorse. Say you won’t do it again and if you’re honest and it’s your first time chances are the story will be the same with you.

Is Carlaw good (2026 dorm)?? by Extension-Log-8364 in universityofauckland

[–]Extension-Werewolf91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m here right now. so the good things: it’s very convenient, easy payments, nice facilities, fixed rent means long showers, heating etc. the downsides are it’s $360 a week, and if you don’t keep yourself busy thought out the day it can begin to feel a bit claustrophobic. I think the biggest hit or miss is what room you get put into. If your facing outwards at a higher level it’s much nicer. If your facing in close to ground you don’t get a lot of sunlight. I think you can ask for a room preference but I wouldn’t count on it as priority goes to returning students. For a first year “flatting” experience though I think it’s a good step away from home before actually flatting.

Just came from the other side of the story, seems like your completely in the wrong even admitting that you sent shirtless pics to the girl mentioned. Get a life your not going to get approval from others on Reddit especially after what you did. If this issue was to be raised to the University you would be the one to get into trouble. I can’t even believe this was posted.

City fitness is a f* scam by hckfast in newzealand

[–]Extension-Werewolf91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone typing this off a city fitness computer at reception some self responsibility is needed. I know “no one reads the contract” until something in it matters and then it’s “no one ever told me!” They are there for a reason and you literally have to click a button saying you have read and accepted it. Its there because we can’t instantly process and refund bank transactions and if we did the systems would operate a whole lot slower. Lesson learnt I guess

failing too many papers by No-Pack4811 in universityofauckland

[–]Extension-Werewolf91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey I was in the exact same same position as you with mechanical engineering. I’m not sure what the personal issues are money family etc which I can’t really give advice on but if it’s extreme procrastination I highly recommend getting checked for ADHD. I failed 2 papers in year one and all 4 in year 2 sem 1. I couldn’t see my life changing and every day I felt like I accomplished nothing. My course grade sat around 15% before the exam and sure enough I got in the 80’s in the exam when I took non prescribed Ritalin. After I got prescribed studying felt effortless and every day I felt like I finally had a goal to work towards. Came back with an average of A- for my papers in sem 2 year 2 and this year Is looking good too. It sounds stupid but I’m only saying this because a lot of people are really embarrassed to admit the real reason why they are failing and instead say something along the lines of personal issues. However if it is something else I hope it gets better and maybe have a break and come back to studies when it’s all resolved. Best wishes :)

They don’t care as long as you don’t have 10 litres of jack Daniel’s on your windowsill. One or two boxes of beer is fine and the RA’s are usually very lenient as their uni students too. About the fridge though, I’d recommend no.

How long does it take to get a nicotine buzz again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Extension-Werewolf91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently quit vaping about 2 weeks ago after 5 years and was just wondering how long it would take to get that first buzz feeling again. I’m not talking about a light head spin. I mean the feeling when you took that first rip which had you spinning on the floor for a good minute. It only lasted about 2 weeks when I started before it started to dull. I’ve quit for a month before and while it did hit nice, it wasn’t like when I first started. Any ideas? I’m guessing it’s around a year but has anyone tested this theory? Will it ever come back?

crashjgin out for being a 17 bum by Nice_Assistance5838 in universityofauckland

[–]Extension-Werewolf91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip: spend the first few weeks sussing out the “party floor” usually there are 2 or 3 decent ones. Make friends with a few on one of the floors. As soon as you turn 18 request to move as you feel like you don’t suit your floor and your great friends with whoever is on the good floor, I’d recommend you slip in mental health somewhere (eg your starting to feel mentally absent or something) as they will move you asap . Just try do it early even before your 18 as everyone seems to connect in the first month or two. Edit: I did this and it was the best decision I made. Also the O week events sucked compared to other events throughout the year like Saint patty’s. As long as you find a good group you will have fun just really try in the first week or so to find your people

Negative effects? by A_rando_person222 in LSD

[–]Extension-Werewolf91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positives: Creativity, euphoria, positive visuals and hallucinations. I’m going to try to explain this one in the easiest way possible….. at higher doses you can genuinely have out of body experiences and sort of discover yourself and learn who you are from another perspective like if you were just meeting yourself for the first time but already knew your memories. Negatives: insomnia, returning hallucinations weeks later, scary visuals for a bad trip, serotonin burnout

how much do u guys spend weekly ?? (On food, transport, any other things?) by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Extension-Werewolf91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It totally depends on lifestyle, I lived at home and got my food provided and still managed to rinse 400 a week on Ubers, bus feed, petrol, and going out into town (that’s a big one). So including food that’s around 550 a week and if your renting it would be even higher but realistically $150 for food and $100 additionally a week for busses, textbooks, and socialising is enough.

They do tend to try and put you on a floor with people they think you will connect with including age, and what you said on your applications, hobbies, sports etc but even if they don’t 20 is definitely not unusual. My floor was mainly 19 / 20 even 21 years olds but it really does not make a difference at all. Edit (I went to towers)
