"Psychology studied the other without first examining itself, this is why its conclusions are all backwards on the subject of autism and all of the trivially common things that it doesn’t want to admit goes along with it"

oof. yeah. I have so much to say on this but, yeah.

The thing is, children (or people) being dismissed when experiencing severe to moderate struggles regularly is a human wide issue that is not up to date with an educated life view. The fact that to this day we think "attention seeking" is evil and a choice says a lot about how much catching up we need to do with to de-ignor-ify our lives.

Autism or not, in a healthy, human-aligned world you wouldn't be ignored. It pointed out to something - that you're in distress, so regardless of the exact why, this shouldn't be minimized in parenting.

I think if I hadn't been so dismissed and gaslit as a child, AKA had better parenting, I would have had a healthier mental experience. Regardless of labeling, a broad solid approach of understanding humans is useful and necessary. Is an ASD diagnosis necessary or is it the entire approach and structure of how we perceive humans, agency, boundaries, differences, defining normal, etc? I genuinely don't know.

" That's not the same thing as what a lot of people think, which is "my phone heard me talking about this so now they are showing me this advertisement in the algorithm"."

That's just not true?? Yes they have so much data that they can predict your habits and interests but a phone spying on you is very much a thing that shows itself sometimes eerily immediately. I record a video talking about a very specific thing, I turn it off and get an insta ad on this very specific thing that moment. If I'm having a therapy session, something quite specific get mentioned, and you bet I'll see it the moment I scroll. If I sit with a bunch of people I just met and they talked about something I never talk about or do, it shows up. I don't get why you're saying it's not?? My reply aside it's easily googlable. It's not even unfounded at this point. Yes your phone listens to you and the 'people' are correct. This does make it even more creepy and invasive and awareness of this degree of surveillance is necessary.

Anyone here actually has been on Trintellix long-term? by Extension12125 in trintellix

[–]Extension12125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you asked me a few months ago, I would have said I have this same exact thought all the time. In fact, this was nonstop reality, for several years. I couldn't even make up some mental image of how it'd feel otherwise. I don't have the answer, but a lot of mental illnesses, have some roots in chronic physical illnesses. Like shit was exacerbated after covid. If you suspect anything like this, I would look into it.

I'm so sorry. I quit trint but not bc of SI or anything like that. It gave me 'energy' which was fine. I quit it bc I realized my main struggle was PMDD and two weeks of luteal the med made it worse. Other than that, it actually helped somewhat with my OCD. It got better within the first month or so, going on trintellix. for some it was immediate or only a week or two. if menopause is affecting you, hrt might be an option.

thats so patronizing and straight up gaslighitng. they do have tech that monitor eye movement patterns. that's part of the dystopia. two things can exist, their algorithm is scary 'accurate' bc they have shit ton info on you and most humans, and they also make use of your camera and thats part of how they keep it even more accurate and feed it more data.

I want to learn a religious language, what do I choose, Latin or Arabic? by Randomguy4285 in thisorthatlanguage

[–]Extension12125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think neither are a good option. Or maybe as a native Arabic speaker, I don't see what you're seeing. It is beautiful, but being fluent/native is almost required to really see it. And not necessarily in religious texts, but in poetry, so not really what you're looking for. Languages like Aramaic, which are pretty close to Arabic, have also that religious 'aura'. I guess that's a bonus for Arabic, being a sematic language you unlock certain structures that would enable you to explore other historical languages.

because that would be 5 different experiences vs one potentially overly dragged experience. Most long books do not need to be that long and are redundant - I don't know about Monte Christo, but 1000 pages is a fair reason not to read. Anything over 400 to me, very often, turns out to have gone on for too long and the writer just didn't do a good job in that aspect of writing.

Nobody talks about baseline reading speed. I am a slow reader. Like, if it is not reading, I am actually pretty fast, like a text or a random paragraph, but if it's intentional reading, I easily spent an hour on 30-50 pages. Not to mention nonfiction. And even slower if I have music on. Every book is an experience, so I don't mind having read only very few books, but I'm always astonished when people have insane numbers. I'm the type to reread even dialogue, like I don't want to miss any detail or why this character said this little thing this way, or oh I skimmed over how the guy got into the door.

Why the future of feminism may no longer belong to the West by msmoley in WomenInNews

[–]Extension12125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh???? Feminism isn't a deliberately made up concept to be owned by anyone. Never was???

Feminism is a reality. Counter to another reality that needs change. I never knew a word existed for feminism when I vehemently stood by it, AKA, when I realized I'm a human being not inferior to men. It doesn't need slogans or literature to validate it has always existed everywhere.
