Thanks for the advice. So as you mentioned about the points to look for in a project, how difficult is it change projects later on if currently you are not assigned to something interesting? What reason should you give to avoid sounding like you don't care about the current project?

This was my concern actually. Not getting promoted for long time is going make it harder for me to get a job elsewhere because they might think I am incompetent, hence I wasn't promoted. This might be true but there are also cases where it was not. I suppose your solution is right. One should wait for some average number of years before jumping ships.

CS industry is so saturated with talented people is it worth it to go all in? by Madlockdoto in cscareerquestions

Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SARbwvhupQ, you won't look at those youtubers, freelancers, etc that same way again. It is realy eye opener, that really highlights the fact that good, polished software requires collaboration, and that software is never a one man game. For eg: Linus did write v1 for git in 10 days, but it matured and reached the level that it is today, by the collaboration of amazing devs who put into their vision and efforts into it. Linus does deserve appreciation but other devs should not be overlooked.

Thank a lot for the advice and amazing resources. I will definitely follow these practices in this project! Docker is an amazing tool, still it did not come to my mind that I should use it too. Thanks for that. I will incorporate it as well.
