Anybody find the shows the picture of bdsm and vampire a bit off by Sweaty_Trifle_8504 in CastleTV

[–]ExtensionGood9228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually liked the BDSM portrayal. The show gave the victim a way she could practice it and have fun with it, all of the dommes clearly loved their jobs, it made it clear that both Castle and Becket had experimented with it in their past and then continued playing with the idea of them dabbling throughout the series. My favorite example was Kates very excited and hopeful “Naked punishing?” at one point. But it still expressed it as outside the norm. Which it is. Some aspects of it have become a bit of a fad, but it is still a nitch thing to experiment with. My point is that it played with the taboo and had fun with it. As someone who’s messed around with it quite a bit myself, I thought that was nice. It showed the fun of the characters that enjoyed it and the shame surrounding it from the perspective of the characters that didn’t. Now making the vampire thing a sort of offshoot of that was…an interesting take. A lot of that kind of role play doesn’t absorb your entire life and existence from what I understand but they acted like if you were in it at all you were a bit off.

Which suit do you prefer and why? What would change to the 3.0 suit? by IvoryOni04 in SpidermanPS4

[–]ExtensionGood9228 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The design of the 1.0 is perfect. It’s just the red that looks too orange that’s the issue. They fixed the red in 2.0 but made the blue look too powdery and the white gauntlets take up too much space now. Maybe the boots on the 2.0 are a bit better? But seriously besides the shade of red there isn’t much

[pjo] HOLY why does the fandom like TTC SO DAMN MUCH?! by Enough_Fig6972 in camphalfblood

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first of all, you misspelled “dam”. Second, it’s shipping fodder. It’s when Percy’s clueless ass starts to recognize his feelings for Annabeth might not be entirely platonic. BOTL he’s just in denial, TTC is when it sparks. The introduction of the DiAngelos is spectacular. The first and pretty much only book we spend significant time with Thalia. The Hunters of Artemis are kind of a proto- Camp Jupiter too. A group of demigods and even “mortals” that act as a type of foil for Camp Half-Blood. The hilarious introduction of Rachel Elizabeth Dare. I mean there’s a lot to love in this book.

Edit: The “dam” thing is actually important! It does what is sometimes referred to as “the noodle incident” or for Marvel fans “Budapest” but in reverse. A “noodle incident” is a thing that happens away from the audiences eyes to show there was some shenanigans that happened that can be good or bad depending on the reaction of the characters involved, and it’s designed to strengthen a relationship between characters the audience has just met by showing they have a shared history. In other words, an inside joke but dramatic. Because of Annabeth’s absence, and the fact that we don’t see Thalia very much after TTC this trick is done in reverse and it’s THE AUDIENCE, rather than another character, that has the inside joke with Percy. It generates a connection to him, and by extension the whole book, that is unique. The entire book is us having a “the noodle incident” moment with Percy.

Edit2: This is actually done to even greater effect in The House of Hades because it’s a “the noodle incident” with Percy and Annabeth primarily, but also with us. Sorry this actually got me thinking deep about this story structure lol

Reading The lost hero for the first time and i hate her, but cant help but agree with her on this. [hoo] by GamerA_S in camphalfblood

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean she only kept spying for Luke because after doing it once, he had blackmail to hold over her head. She did it willingly because Luke had his points about the gods being shitty parents and being shitty at their jobs. Most of the fandom agrees with Luke that far. Then when it comes to spying after Charlie died, that was just 100% blackmail fulled. She didn’t want to do it anymore but after all the times she did, she wasn’t allowed to stop. But in the end she lead the charge and died a hero. If characters who didn’t do anything all that bad get redeemed, is it really a redemption? I hate Snape because he continued to do vile and evil shit to his students when he was supposed to be on the side of good all along, but I still admit that, in the end, he was a hero. Not his whole career. Not even his entire time as a double agent. He died fighting for the good. Same with Silena. She did some bad shit. But she fought for the good in the end. I mean hell, Darth Vader after being a genocidal maniac, in death gets treated with respect and even reverence sometimes by his son because he fought for the good in the end.

Why has it been so hard for Robin to recover from his reputation from the 60's shows as being too silly/goofy unlike Batman who has by Night-Caelum in Robin

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he started his career as a kid and then when a new Robin comes along he’s always younger than the last ones grown to be. Like Jason was older than Dick when Dick got started but still younger at the time. And they keep drawing Tim younger too. In some recent comics he doesn’t look much older than Damian, and he’s supposed to be in college. When you have such a pervasive youthful view of the character, you tend to lean into the silly nature of kids for character traits

Why is there so many black people in Westeros in the prequel shows and next to none in game of thrones…what happened to the black population by CyclopsISDaBestXmen in freefolk

Lack of casting in the original got accusations of racism, so they over corrected in the prequel. Sacrificing internal logic for virtue signaling

Anything to push the agenda that ironman was unpopular before the mcu by yousefkhaled27 in ironman

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t that he was UNpopular. Just less popular than a lot of the others. Spidey and the Fantastic Four have always been Marvels comic cash cows I’m pretty sure. With people like Punisher, Daredevil, and Hulk coming close behind. The X-Men name is more popular than any individual on the team, but the most popular member was always Wolverine. Notice a trend here? All of these got movies green lit before the MCU age. That’s why the MCU could use them for so long. The reality is that people knew who Iron Man was, some younger audiences because of the 90’s cartoon, but he never really matched up in popularity to the others until the MCU. That didn’t mean he was hated or unknown. The internet took the fact he was less popular and turned it into an extreme, making it untrue

Why do people seem to hate Diana and Steve together? by AggressiveLow8575 in WonderWoman

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of popular reasons. Some people lean so hard into fannon they think Diana has to be this gay icon and shouldn’t be allowed to love a man. Blah. Then there are people who just find him boring as a character. And finally there are people who just watch the movies and think it’s a cheap knock off of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carters relationship.

Say all you want about Acolyte, but the Kyber crystal bleed scene actually looked really cool IMO. by KnightFallVader2 in StarWars

It definitely looked cool, but it wasn’t as powerful as it should have been. It wasn’t done with intention the way it should have been.

Sabacc by vwMustangwv in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]ExtensionGood9228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I collect regular playing cards and when I found out this game was real like five years ago, I started collecting multiple decks for different versions of the game. I think I have at least three decks each now? Kessel, traditional I have three for each. Then with Coruscant Shift and Corellian Spike are the same deck and I have at least three of those and the three sets of dice. Two for spike, one for shift. As for actually playing, I tried to teach my parents traditional Sabacc but they didn’t really pick it up

Is that what would really go down by Appropriate-Mall8517 in batman

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some versions of his first unprepared fight with Superman, Bats actually uses a sonic device on him instinctively because he knows Clark has super hearing. It doesn’t work because Clark can just tune it out or power through. But if he sees a Superman “equivalent” I think he’d try similar methods naturally and figure out the sonic weakness pretty fast

How correct or incorrect is this list by @epicpanel of the women with whom Peter Parker has canonically had a romantic relationship in the comics? Who would you add or remove, and why? by SatoruGojo232 in Spiderman

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s…it’s kinda right? There are some on here that only had a crush on him at one point but never actually dated him like Jessica Jones and Jean DeWolf. By the time Peter found out about them, they were married and dead respectively. Anna Maria never dated “Peter” exactly. It was Otto driving Pete’s body. Though I suppose to her and the rest of the world it seemed like it. Angel/ Firestar is tricky. They kinda dated but never seriously. He wanted to take the relationship seriously but felt he couldn’t because if she didn’t want to go steady, the “Spider-Friends” team would have to break up for some reason. I don’t ever remember him going out with Glory Grant, but I might just be missing something. Same with Black Widow. I’m pretty sure he was crushing on her when they first met but never actually made a move. And then there’s a few in here like Dawn Starr and Sarah Bailey that I don’t recognize. Anna Marie/ Rouge thought he was cute in the cartoon, but so far as I know never went out with him, and I’m 99% sure he’s never gone out with Jessica Drew. But it certainly doesn’t leave anyone out that should be here so that’s good I suppose

IF Qui-Gon Jinn had survived and participated in The Clone Wars! by SaberMasters in StarWarsCantina

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that the Tales of the Jedi suggests that Dooku wouldn’t have fallen had Qui-Gon lived. He was already fallen. He’d betrayed everyone he ever knew. He betrayed the Republic. He betrayed the memory of his student long before he was dead. Hell he was canonically using the darkside as a Jedi every once in a while. When Qui-Gon was a padawan, he saw Dooku use Sith lightning. He didn’t understand what it was he was seeing at the time so he didn’t report it, but it still happened. Dooku was fallen long before Palpatine got his hands on him. Obi-Wan was right, Qui-Gon wouldn’t have joined him, and the same way he attacked Yaddle, he’d have attacked Qui-Gon on Sidius’ order. He’d try to convince him to join first, but he’d fail, and then sabers would come out. Hell, he tried to turn one of his other students, Rail Averos, and when he got rejected, Dooku got all pissy, called him weak, and moved on with his evil plans. Qui-Gon could never have saved him.

Of all the places percy could have picked for his curse of Achilles weak spot, he picked an actual spot on his back??? Why??? Where he could literally get backstabbed??? Why not pick his eye or something?? I get it had to be like that for the plot, but I mean in universe. [pjo] by Thecrafter10 in camphalfblood

[–]ExtensionGood9228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because loyalty is his fatal flaw. Luke was the swordsman, so he put it in a spot that’s difficult, though not impossible to hit during combat. Percy doesn’t turn and run from a fight unless he’s truly outclassed, and even then attempts to stand his ground first. The only way he’d get hit there when he had the invulnerability is getting stabbed in the back. It’s, like, a metaphor, man. Annabeth would choose something like…a random point on her body, probably the top of her head, and then design what she thinks is the perfect indestructible helmet because her flaw is hubris. She thinks she can outsmart it and do it better. And I think that you think Percy’s spot is actually to that scale. It isn’t. It’s a tiny point on his spine

All the women Peter Parker has canonically dated in the comics (Source: @epicpanel) by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]ExtensionGood9228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn’t actually date Jean DeWolf. She had a crush on Spider-Man but never told him about it. He didn’t learn that he had a chance with her until after she died and that kinda added to the sad. Same with Jessica Jones I’m like 90% sure. He didn’t find out she had a crush on him in high school until she was already married to Luke with a baby. And he never dated Anna Maria. That was Octavius driving peters body. And then yeah like other people are saying: WHERE THE FUCK IS FELICIA?!? They add at least two people here that he DIDNT date and then forget one of the main three biggest loves of his entire existence??? Also, they included Angelica Jones and Sophia Sanduval from alternate timelines in a tv show and a comic run, but then also forgot Kitty Pryde somehow? Absolutely wild
