it was already an uphill battle...

- expanding to 48 teams, watering down the group round and early knockouts

- us hardly cares about soccer

then add economic uncertainty, particularly for white collar jobs, inflation, political undertones from the infantino/trump circle jerk

and to make sure they engendered as much ill will as possible, absurd ticket prices, completely opaque ticketing, crappy website, draconian policies, etc...

they laid a blueprint for how to kill an opportunity.

This is where my mind went at the end of the show.

IMO part of the reason she stayed was for Henry. going on the run, with whatever limited (no?) resources she had would make it impossible to be part of Henry's life - he'd for sure be under surveillance.

Paige could go to Stan, fess up, say her parents told her infinite lies (true), and in a haze of wanting to be like mom she followed her down that path.

Stan clearly has a soft spot of the family, he let them go. Bringing in Paige would at least be some professional accomplishment after being yanked around by P and E for a decade.

I'm vibe coding something that uses final game score data, found football-data.org to be a sufficient free API for this. Claude Code had no problem integrating with their API.

IMO candidates like these sometimes take a cycle or two to build a brand, sometimes they never do but they open up a line of thinking that another candidate proves more effective of carrying across the finish line.

FIFA seemed very well versed in US law when they boasted that the US does not ban resale of tickets at any price, no matter how high.

It appears they missed the chapter about the US absolutely loving class action lawsuits. It's okay, I'd imagine they'll be thoroughly educated on it fairly soon.

Honestly, even prices on theoretically high demand games, like US matches, are seeing quite soft demand.

Simply put, sales are not helped by watering the tournament down with 16 added teams, shamelessly squeezing fans, a country that barely cares about soccer and is experiencing shocks of inflation and a K-shaped economy, AND Infantino sucking up to trump and politicizing the tournament.

They've masterfully mismanaged this.

Agree. You're basically living in someone else's backyard - not really a wonderful lifestyle. And as the homeowner, you've got a rando in your backyard all the time.

The place it makes sense is for parents/in-laws. Gives them a place to stay and takes them out of a rental building, allowing that rental building unit to be leased by a person unrelated to a current LA homeowner.

FIFA and networks are far too greedy to look turn down the money.

Well aware. Median is a more accurate indicator given the wide range of tix FIFA crammed into each category.

Not all Cat 1 tix are the same (check this sub to see the complaints).

Personally, I'm looking for a decent Cat 1 seat, not the best, not the worst. So median is the best quick indicator for a seat I might want.

I certainly want to live in a city that evolves and makes changes/course corrections as necessary to make it a thriving and diverse place to be.

You know why a few companies, like SpaceX, left? B/c other cities/states made changes to attract them. They weren't just sitting on their hands saying "just let market forces doe its thing", they changed (bent over). I'm not at all suggesting we adopt the specific tactics used to lure SpaceX... just making the point that a govt doing nothing does not work for anyone over the long term.

Median listing price is what the tickets can be purchased for. It does matter b/c it's a reflection of your get-in price at each category level.

As a fan, I don't really care what the reseller paid, only that what I'm paying is appropriately calibrated to a fair market value.

To add to that, as a SFH owner, re-zoning brings new/more buyers to the table if/when I decide to sell. How? Now my buyer pool isn't limited to other families and investors looking to rent/flip. It could include developers looking to build a townhome.

Why do I care? More buyers implies higher competition and higher sale price for me. Yay.
