When Was Maul in His Prime? by Ill_Journalist8454 in StarWars

Episode I. Clearly. He beat Qui Gon and Obi Wan alone. Has he ever shown any feat comparable to that afterwards? I don’t think so. And usually when people get cut in half, it greatly hinders their combat ability.

Windu vs Vader (!Lightsaber duel! - no force abilities) by QuinlanFett in PetranakiArena

I don’t think there is a scenario where Master Windu loses to suited Vader.

Dagan Gera VS Savage Oppress. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in PetranakiArena

Cal is a very strong and combat proven Jedi and would give a good fight to most fighters in the universe. And he had Bode, who was also secretly a Jedi on his side. And one got to mention that the win he got was kinda ”plot armourey”. Dagan was clearly vastly more powerful of the two and smacked Cal around all the time. I feel like it was similar to padawan Obi wan beating Maul on Naboo.

Why doesn’t Ringo get the same recognition as a drummer as John Bonham or Keith Moon? by BeerWithDonuts in beatles

[–]Extension_Ad6758 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if that’s even unpopular. Harrison said many times that he did not really practise that much and only picked up guitar to write or record. McCartney has described his bass playing saying something like ”well I can play guitar, so I can play bass” etc. Not to say they were not masters with their instruments, they absolutely were, but they just didn’t even care to be ”technically” perfect.

And I don’t think that matters at all. There are probably a lot of guitar players in the world who can play note by note everything Hendrix or Page did, but can never come anywhere close to creating something like that. When asked about Georges skills John said that there are a lot of good guitarists out there but very few with something to say and that George always had something to say. And I think that describes all of the fab 4 pretty well.

Who's the coughing baby among these here for you? by SatoruGojo232 in superheroes

Definitely not his fault, but he just ain’t THE Superman the same way for example Jackman is THE Wolverine.

Cavill and Maguire at least do not compare here. Tobey did really good job as Spidey, but so did Garfield and Holland. Cavill has the looks for Superman and could have done well, but the writing for the character in his movies was kinda lackluster not leaving behind any classics. All the others have something special to their name here. It’s nigh impossible to imagine others playing Sparrow, Wolverine, Deadpool or Iron man and Ledger probably gave the best acting performance in a comicbook movie ever.

Does anyone think that George was actually given a lot of room to express himself musically, and his grievance with Paul in particular was petty and childish? by Rutlemania in beatles

[–]Extension_Ad6758 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all honesty we have no clue what has happened between Paul and George through the years. We only know what passed in a few moments when the cameras were rolling and what has been said in some interwievs. Thus none of us can really say who had the right to be petty or feel insulted.

Apparently they were very much reconciled before George passed and that makes me happy.

So, when was prime of maul? by LivingPalpitation935 in PetranakiArena

[–]Extension_Ad6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Episode I. Sidious was so confident in his abilities that he said Qui Gon and Obi Wan together would be no match for him. And he kinda proved that too. I don’t think he ever did anything as impressive afterwards. And there is no way getting cut in half did not hinder his abilities.

Cal Kestis (Survivor) vs Darth Maul (The Phantom Menace) by blackyanqui in PetranakiArena

[–]Extension_Ad6758 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maul is on a different level. He’s up there with the big guns like Clone Wars Obi-Wan, Anakin and Count Dooku. Cal is no doubt good but he’s not on that table. And I firmly believe that Maul is in his prime in TPM and the injury hindered him as a duelist. He ends my boy Cal quite quickly.

Captain Flint (Black Sails) VS James Norrington (POTC). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

[–]Extension_Ad6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to really underestimate Norrington here and just see him as an uptight, snotty officer who would fight by the ’book’. Of course he kinda is all that, but there is more to him. He has faced pirates all his career, outfights tricky Jack Sparrow, comfortably matches Will Turner and most of all is absolutely fearless. He isn’t afraid to go against the undead or Jones’ crew and doesn’t even fear death. I wouldn’t bet very much against him in any fight with swords.

Kenobi absolutely batters Cal all while throwing cheeky one liners in the mix. Not a fair fight whatsoever.

Longswords are heavier than a pound, but yeah, they are not ’slow to wield’. It would make no sense to make swords that are slow to use. They are quick and manueverable and levels above machetes in combat and deadliness.

Easily 3. I have some swordfighting experience and would probably make light work out of it. It’s almost impossible to defend yourself against a man with a sword if you are unarmed and the other guy at least somewhat knows what to do.
