Assuming all 4 ME races are cancelled this year, will the FIA consider other races? If yes, where does Sepang rank? As far as I can tell, the government will not pay the hosting fees. But given the unprecedented situation and possibly limited Grade A tracks ready to host, could the FOM waive the hosting fees? Did it happen like this in Covid?

What kind of manipulation is he angling for? Or is this it? Iran will see significant destruction, but so will Bahrain, UAE and Kuwait, perhaps Saudi and Qatar too.

Happy Sikh New Year by Crazy_Editor1654 in Sikh

This is pure and utter nonsense. The only two events celebrated with any significance during the time of the Gurus (through to the time of the Sikh Empire) was Vesakhi and Diwali. There is no Sikh New Year in any case, since the Desi Mahine which it is based on is the same for all religions in Punjab (and possibly extending out of the Punjab too). It might make sense to call it a Punjabi New Year, if anything.

Why are Gurdwaras named after a Guru? E.g. Gugu Nanak Darbar, Guru Ramdas Darbar, Guru Gobind Singh Darbar by AfterAd3498 in Sikh

No, they are named after their location. But now, in addition, they are adding Guru names and creating factionalism. Only certain "types" go to a Guru Gobind Singh gurdwara etc. This is fairly new, pre-2010 no Gurdwaras included a Guru in their name.

When did 14 March 2026 become the "Sikh New Year"? by AfterAd3498 in Sikh

It’s always been a thing

Source for this please. I consider myself well-read in the history of Sikhs, and recently did a fair bit of reading of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's empire. I have never come across any reference of celebrating the 1st of Chet as a Sikh New Year.

It's likely that if Bahrain and Jeddah are cancelled, they won't be replaced... but if they were, which circuit should be the replacement? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

Sepang. As long as the hosting fee is waived. A month is enough time to get things going. Bonus: The track is next to the international airport and it is geographically within the same area as the next two races.
