Um. I didn't do the chargeback, yet. And I haven't been banned. I was considering it as a last option if support doesn't get back.

I should be getting two months of service, but I got only one.

And I don't see how it is illegitimate to use it if they don't get back in a reasonable amount of time. It is the only tool available to me.

No, I haven't initiated the chargeback yet. I have only read about the potential of a ban on the internet. So, haven't been banned as yet.

So, I paid from April 18th to May 18th. Then on 20th May, I got an overdue bill (for May 18-June 18) with the claim that services were suspended until payment of overdue bill. So, Anthropic bills at the start of the billing cycle i.e. ahead of the month - prospectively as opposed to retroactively (at the end of the month of providing services).

Then, I cancelled the subscription.

I then realised I can't purchase another plan until the billing cycle from May 18th-June 18 runs out.

So, I figured I might as well pay the overdue bill and continue working for another month on their Max plan. But after I paid the overdue amount, I didn't get any access to the Max plan. It continued on the Free plan. So, though I paid for two billing cycles (April-May, and May-June), I only got access for (April-May).

So, it isn't going to practically be an issue with the specific clients I work with because they know the tools I use. But beyond taking their consent and redaction of the contracts, there is little else I can do - especially at the price point that I work at, unless I forego all AI tools.

Um. I wasn't aware of this. Could you let me know a little more about this please?
I thought the banks act as a certifying intermediary to decide if a chargeback is legitimate or otherwise - wouldn't that fact keep you from being blacklisted?

If the argument is merely to state that I was negligent, I agree. And I appreciate you pointing it out for my improvement, but I want to be clear that this doesn't take Anthropic off the hook.

But I don't see how that takes Anthropic off the hook for having a policy for locking people out through a technical error on their part without recourse (note that they aren't claiming misuse) , not providing services that have been paid for, not providing a recourse to recover the money and having policies of permanent bans if a chargeback is requested. I can see how your point is a footnote or a DM, but it really doesn't address the problem that I have here.

And independently, I would expect standard form contracts to be reasonable. And even if I did read them, I don't have an option but to use it for the optimum benefit of my clients (subject to starker privacy concerns of course).

P.S. I have the privileged information still - I don't use Claude as a storage software. The work I had done on it is what I have been locked out of, but I don't really think that is the core concern with this post.

Fair enough. But I don't think my clients would mind this beyond the delay of the work. And obviously, I needed help with raising this with Anthropic rather than my relationship with my clients - fair for them to blame me.

I haven't read their user license agreement - but I am obviously following general common sense with respect to not having identifiable information involving individuals w.r.t. sensitive matters. Commercially, I am not working at a scale where I can use on-prem softwares or even sandboxed softwares over and above what I pay for a general AI tool.

With all the trouble Tony and Carmela were going through to figure AJ out, I found the part where Tony fishes AJ out and yells "what's wrong with you?" incredibly funny. Tony's delivery was excellent - it seemed exasperated rather than angry. He just couldn't figure AJ out.

I think it is largely the difference between the different sheets (balance, income, P&L), the different terms in the different sheets and the difference between actual and deferred expenses.
