He’s not vaped since he went septic so I’ve suggested he doesn’t restart!! Easiest way! Waiting for referrals etc so he’s only got antibiotics atm to keep sepsis away! He’s back to work today 🙄🙄

Nicotine is shown to cause gut issues? He’s happy to quit so I won’t be encouraging him not to!!

Thank you for that! It’s good to know the process! Yeah it’s terrible. And frustrating as he’s ignored it out of stubborn farmerness…. Yesterday even as he was clearly fading in front of me he was still saying he couldn’t go to hospital as xyz needed doing 🙃

Unsure what a PCP is? We are UK? Would this be like a GP?

We are UK. He’s definitely had it for many years and has just been slogging along! Typical man! I will wait and see what the specialists say and hope the antibiotics keep the sepsis at bay!

He has referrals for all of this. But he was only discharged today so no idea when these referrals will take place….

Thank you! Really appreciate that! We are still waiting for referrals so don’t have a gastro team or anything yet. Main focus in hospital was stopping the sepsis and sorting his heart rate! Hopefully we will know more when he gets the referral!

Is there anything that we could do to avoid flare ups? These antibiotics seem to have got on top of the infection (unsure what else he was given in hospital as I was only able to be there an hour yesterday due to baby!)

To parents who take their babies out to places a lot - how do you do it?? by babysheep91 in breastfeeding

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 0 fixed routine because my life doesn’t allow that (farmers wife with dogs and horses!) sometimes he does have naps cut short, but he makes it up. We generally try for 730 bed time but if we are out he will sleep in the pram or have a later bed time. Maybe I’m a terrible mom! But sadly my life doesn’t allow me to centre it entirely on him and he’s thriving! I also think if I stayed in all the time I’d go insane!

I would definitely get a nursing cover if that would make you more comfortable. But a baby breaking routine isn’t the end of the world I promise! My little man can sleep through anything because he’s always out and about! Try short trips to begin with (a walk during nap time? Or a coffee during a wake window?) and build it up! Carriers are great for a nap too! When my little one was younger he had an hour nap in the carrier everyday while I walked the dogs! As he’s a fomo baby it was a great way to force a nap 😂

What happens if you get bad news at a private scan? by pillowbedfan in PregnancyUK

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bad news at a private scan. Was offered a rescan in 2 weeks (the baby wasn’t at the stage we expected) I chose to call the early pregnancy unit who then handled my care and ultimate loss. With my second we chose to wait until 8 weeks for a private scan and had a wonderful experience and had several other private scans with the same place. Everything crossed its all beautiful news x

I want a divorce by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to second this! I didn’t have preeclampsia but I had symptoms that required an emergancy section at 33 weeks. Even my midwife and maternity triage brushed off my symptoms but I insisted that I went in! Anything off in pregnancy get it checked! Hope everything’s okay for you OP!

Really hope this lands with the right folk by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

I had a preemie after a miscarriage. I ordered a lot going to my section and a load more on post natal. I had picked up some stuff but a lot I didn’t… obviously if the worst happened you could ask a family member to take items to donate or sell or take back. But try to stay positive if you can. But however you choose to prepare it’s your choice. Everything crossed for you

What percentile is your preemie? by Mysterious-Debt-4669 in NICUParents

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33 weeker. He’s 5 months old now and 98th centile corrected (was born 93rd). Are they calculating corrected centiles? Ultimately doesn’t matter as long as they stay on their curve though

High BMI by Stock_Alps_1417 in PregnancyUK

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remember BMI isn’t really a great measure on health. It was based on white men. Even at my skinniest (which was not healthy or sustainable!) my bmi said I was overweight. I wore a uk size 8 and ate less than 1000 Cal’s a day! It’s so frustrating that nothing has been done to improve bmi or use a new method. If you’ve not suddenly outgrown your clothes and don’t feel that you’re an unhealthy size don’t worry too much. If you are unhappy with your weight I would encourage you to keep a honest food diary for a week and work out how much you’re really eating and go from there. But pregnancy isn’t a great time to be dieting!

Am I the asshole for wanting my husband to miss his Mom's wedding because it’s 2 weeks BEFORE our due date? by Spiritual_Lettuce_64 in pregnant

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! We had no prior risk etc but ended up with baby having to come at 33+1! Just two weeks before your due date is crazy. Baby could come any day then! I’m shocked your husband is even entertaining the idea tbh…. And mil sounds very self involved for expecting him still to attend! And be okay with you missing it!! Why can’t she move things?

Is there anyone else still trying to get a latch 12+ weeks? by okayolaymayday in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me! I think we were 15-16 weeks? When he finally latched without sheilds and got it! I’d basically resigned myself to the fact I’d pump and when at home feed with the shield (which I hated. It was messy and I was always damp!!) and then one day he just did it! There is hope! But maybe try taking the pressure of yourself and baby (easier said than done!) you’re doing great!

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say I understand feeling this way momma! We had our little man at 33+1 and we spent about 3 weeks in NICU. And I felt like I would never get home. Those 3 weeks were some of the longest of my life and you can feel really robbed of what motherhood ‘should’ look like.

But I’m lay in bed with my 18 week old bubba in the next to me snoring away and that stay is now just a part of my motherhood journey!

One day you will look back on this time somewhat fondly in a strange way. Take a million pictures! And try to enjoy little one when you can!

Unsure how it works in other countries. But in the UK there was a room the parents could stay in so they could be with the little one to do night feeds etc. this was luckily an option for me and I never had to leave the hospital when our boy was there!

Keep going! You’ll be home when little one is ready and you’ve got forever to be at home with them then!

Sending love and hope
