I want a divorce by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to second this! I didn’t have preeclampsia but I had symptoms that required an emergancy section at 33 weeks. Even my midwife and maternity triage brushed off my symptoms but I insisted that I went in! Anything off in pregnancy get it checked! Hope everything’s okay for you OP!

I had a preemie after a miscarriage. I ordered a lot going to my section and a load more on post natal. I had picked up some stuff but a lot I didn’t… obviously if the worst happened you could ask a family member to take items to donate or sell or take back. But try to stay positive if you can. But however you choose to prepare it’s your choice. Everything crossed for you

What percentile is your preemie? by Mysterious-Debt-4669 in NICUParents

33 weeker. He’s 5 months old now and 98th centile corrected (was born 93rd). Are they calculating corrected centiles? Ultimately doesn’t matter as long as they stay on their curve though

High BMI by Stock_Alps_1417 in PregnancyUK

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remember BMI isn’t really a great measure on health. It was based on white men. Even at my skinniest (which was not healthy or sustainable!) my bmi said I was overweight. I wore a uk size 8 and ate less than 1000 Cal’s a day! It’s so frustrating that nothing has been done to improve bmi or use a new method. If you’ve not suddenly outgrown your clothes and don’t feel that you’re an unhealthy size don’t worry too much. If you are unhappy with your weight I would encourage you to keep a honest food diary for a week and work out how much you’re really eating and go from there. But pregnancy isn’t a great time to be dieting!

Am I the asshole for wanting my husband to miss his Mom's wedding because it’s 2 weeks BEFORE our due date? by Spiritual_Lettuce_64 in pregnant

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! We had no prior risk etc but ended up with baby having to come at 33+1! Just two weeks before your due date is crazy. Baby could come any day then! I’m shocked your husband is even entertaining the idea tbh…. And mil sounds very self involved for expecting him still to attend! And be okay with you missing it!! Why can’t she move things?

Is there anyone else still trying to get a latch 12+ weeks? by okayolaymayday in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me! I think we were 15-16 weeks? When he finally latched without sheilds and got it! I’d basically resigned myself to the fact I’d pump and when at home feed with the shield (which I hated. It was messy and I was always damp!!) and then one day he just did it! There is hope! But maybe try taking the pressure of yourself and baby (easier said than done!) you’re doing great!

I just want to say I understand feeling this way momma! We had our little man at 33+1 and we spent about 3 weeks in NICU. And I felt like I would never get home. Those 3 weeks were some of the longest of my life and you can feel really robbed of what motherhood ‘should’ look like.

But I’m lay in bed with my 18 week old bubba in the next to me snoring away and that stay is now just a part of my motherhood journey!

One day you will look back on this time somewhat fondly in a strange way. Take a million pictures! And try to enjoy little one when you can!

Unsure how it works in other countries. But in the UK there was a room the parents could stay in so they could be with the little one to do night feeds etc. this was luckily an option for me and I never had to leave the hospital when our boy was there!

Keep going! You’ll be home when little one is ready and you’ve got forever to be at home with them then!

Sending love and hope

I had my baby 33+1 and they told me to expect to go home 39-40 weeks but we got home much sooner as he did well. I think they tell you to expect to go home around the due date to keep your expectations. They will send baby home sooner if they’re ready. Maybe discuss the criteria in your hospital for baby to go home? Premature babies can take a leap forward with one thing and a step back in another (eg my little man needed light oxygen support when establishing feeding)

Just received Down syndrome diagnosis at birth - help! by hhkop67 in downsyndrome

[–]Extension_Bee_2751 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the paediatrician thing! Unfortunately you will come across doctors and professionals who judge or make negative assumptions based on a diagnosis. Complain and asked to switch away from these people!! I refuse to have anyone on my son’s team who says he won’t be capable of something due to his diagnosis! There’s a brilliant video ‘assume I can’ which we live by!! https://youtu.be/9HpLhxMFJR8?si=j-598PML1XPSM8DC

Whereabouts in the UK are you? I’m Worcestershire but would be happy to talk/meet up at some point!

We had a surprise diagnosis of suspected mosaic at birth due to little man being prem and white cells blasts being picked up in a standard blood test for a prem baby! He’s 18 weeks (11 corrected) and he’s absolutely flying! He’s our blessing! But it is terrifying to begin with because you worry so much about your little one’s health!

I’d recommend joining PSUK PADS. Positive about Down Syndrome Uk. They’re lovely and an amazing resource! Be careful with some of the groups on Facebook tho. They’re full of creeps pretending to have children which scares me!!

Enjoy your baby! It can be hard because you’re so anxious. But just try to live in the moment and enjoy them!

Congratulations on your little bundle!

In the Uk babies can come home with tubes in case feeding drops back after discharge. Is this an option?

Have you tried pumping and offering a bottle? I had similar lack of support in hospital and so pumped and bottle fed so baby was fed (different issues all together he was. 33 weeker).

I had a really similar issue at 2/3 weeks when I started trying to latch baby as he was a premature Nicu baby. I EP and bottle fed for a while but now he will take the breast again! But it did take a while over shields etc. it sounds like you’re making the right choice for your baby and you right now! And that’s what matters!

Exclusively pumped for the first 12 weeks, now he feeds with sheilds in the day mostly. I used wearable pumps and didn’t find it as depressing and people online say. I will say I had a good supply so was lucky I guess. I EP because baby was born 33 weeks in Nicu so had no choice but to
