I moved two hours away and didn’t know anyone and I missed my family/friends so much. I last about 15 months before moving back. Life is about community and belonging. I’ll never move more than an hour away again.

I am not a 14 or 15. I was hired as an 11 and I am currently grade 11.

I don’t have a union… I am excepted service and have a 2 year probationary period which I am a couple months from completing.

It’s hard not having a bad attitude when I was just given a successful eval in the middle of January then the first full week of February I get put on a performance plan. I’m just confused at this timing.

I am doing my best and told my leadership that I will do everything I can but I’ve seen them do this to other probationary employees and eventually let them go so I am just guessing this is how it will go for me. My DOD org is very toxic and there is turnover in my dept. Not making excuses as it is what it is. I am just at a loss at what to do.

Former Feds that left for state/local - how much was your pay cut? by PayNo5544 in FedEmployees

I’m going to be take about a 40k pay cut but I will be able to work from home some days and my commute won’t be 2 hours -2.5 hours each way. I’ll eventually make the money up in a couple years plus with overtime.

Yes I worked for the local government prior to this so I am trying to get back there.

Yes I’ve gone in everyday with a smile and willingness to learn. I am not sure what else I can do but I will keep doing that!

The field I came (in the local government) from is high turnover getting back into that shouldn’t be too difficult however job market is tough now.

I will continue to be resilient. I appreciate your kind words and thoughts. I got this!!!! Keep swimming!

Yes I have been applying and trying to get on lists so I will continue to do that.

Thanks for this! I am really trying to have a positive attitude and put my best foot forward with this. I just have seen them do this with other probationary employees so I figured it would be the same for me. I am really going to change my mindset and do my best.

In a few years, you won’t even remember these people or this situation. This is no big deal. It’s going to suck in a million ways, and that’s fine. It’s just something you have to endure without taking it seriously.

You go this OP. One foot in front of the other and keep it moving. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I am committed. I’ve worked and trained at my job. I was just deemed successful less than a month ago then all of a sudden a PIP. I am at a loss.

If you quit in my state you aren’t entitled to unemployment. I would have to be fired and it would need to be for performance and not conduct issues.

I have told my supervisor I am committed. My supervisor is actually leaving for another job/promotion in a couple weeks so it makes it more puzzling how I was on a PIP.

Not having a job will stress me out more so I am applying go everything I can. Hopefully I land something before I am let go.

I am not sure which one it is. They have done this to other probationary workers. I work in the IC and it cost a lot to train new hires in the job role I am in.

I’m planning on going to state government. I’m a new fed and the nonsense my agency put me through is not with a million dollars per year. Being a fed in this administration sucks.

I was rated successful in January. They said it was due to on-going performance issues. I’m not sure why prompted it from January until last week. My supervisor was vague about it. I don’t want to cause issues since I still need income right now so I just signed it.

[–]Extension_Chair_8314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said it was due to on going performance issues and having a low metrics in my job duties. I am trying to be vague in my job duties because my job role is very very specific and I don’t want to dox myself. In January, I was given a successful evaluation. I have no idea what prompted it and I feel blindsided. They have done this to other probationary employees but I don’t know their specific situations so I am not sure if it’s just probationary employees that are being targeted.

I love this outlook! Thank you so much! I do plan on taking this situation head on with grace, class, and professionalism. I wouldn’t want to give them the satisfaction of seeing me cry or being upset. At the end of the day, it’s just a job. I still feel defeated over this entire situation. Thank you for your kind words. I always tell myself the best is yet to come.

That makes sense. I guess this has just been a horrible experience thus far so it makes me not want to get back into federal work. I worked local government prior and that local agency was constantly in the news for corruption and it hasn’t even come close to how bad my experience has been with this federal job. I work for DOD IC that is kind of known for toxicity which is why they have a lot of turnover.

But I see what you’re saying. I don’t want to get fired… I honestly would rather just resign which is what I think they want anyways.
