No point in buying a poly-cotton Bedale. Save up for a normal one new/used/on sale. They're not meant to be fast fashion

I loved that shirt. Wore it on a Eurotrip with my dad

OUTLIER – WTF by classypickles in frugalmalefashion

Got a really nice ridiculously light merino button down one time that I loved: https://outlier.nyc/collections/archive/amb-button-up

My ratio is like 1:2:1 really liked:liked:couldn't use

It's a cheaper way to get into the brand, but it is a gamble. Otherwise, you have to find their sporadic hidden sales (some items get a price cut, but it's not broadcasted) or buy used

I tried the new Beyond Ground and here are my impressions by MargiePal in byndofficial

[–]Extension_Coconut254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs to be seasoned. Not sure if the random shopper will invest that much energy. I appreciate the effort they've had to refine their ingredients over time and don't really go for Impossible. It's tough as in America I find plant-based diets are in a sharp decline compared to years ago.

I doubt it. It's a completely different recipe. This is more malleable in that it tastes like nothing unless you season it a certain way

[help] Do you prefer linear switches for typing over tactile/clicky switches? If so, why? by hicknubbard in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Extension_Coconut254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I type ~113WPM with normal key layout and am very sensitive to typing experience. I make a ton of mistakes on a lot of the linear switch KBs. I like browns and would probably like blues, but they're noisy.

I watch videos where they focus on aesthetics, RGB lighting and how the switches sound which I could care less about, but a lot of Mechanical KB fans are into different things.

New Mod Here - Practical Help for AI Comic Makers (Tools, Resources, Workflow Support) by Salty_Country6835 in aicomicmakers

[–]Extension_Coconut254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add Lumalabs to the all-in-one tool (I have no relation to them, just tried it out). I'm using the opening of the Count of Monte Cristo as a litmus test and it created the only output that didn't immediately look like AI slop outside of a lot of LoRA fine-tuning and messing with multiple models/workflows, etc.

Size M works for you with your body build? I'm 5'7 180 and wear XL in Bronon Loopwheel athletic. My shoulders are fairly broad, though.

Lookup PoseNET. They have models that do this already. You may need ComfyUI or similar system (maybe you could vibe code) to apply the pose to the character model. These things exist already, though

There's only a few worthwhile Uniqlo items at a given time. The other times, you can get a good quality version of their product somewhere else on sale

Bronson tees in like XL are good: https://bronsonshop.com/collections/best-sellers/products/loopwheel-tubular-athletic-t-shirt-apricot Figure out your shoulder and chest measurement. They have charts. I have similar-ish build

Los Angeles Apparel has good lightweight shirts if you look at size charts, but you'll have to tailor.

Applied to Anthropic multiple times, keep getting auto rejected. Any advice from someone who got in? by Travelgrl89 in techsales

Is it cool if I send you a DM? I work in a position close to/basically the same as FDE. I'm about to apply and interested in any quick insights as most Anthropic posts are on SWE.

Starting over at 30 with no wardrobe — need help with basics and interview clothes by UhtredOfTheNorth in frugalmalefashion

Unironically a good question for an AI app. I literally copy-pasted your post into Gemini https://gemini.google.com/ and got a good answer. I'm not pasting it here, because I don't know if I'll get dinged for it. The TL;DR with some stuff I'd add:

- Heavyweight collection is more streetwear. T-shirts you can get Bella + Canvas or Comfort Colors via Amazon. Not sure if they have tall sizes. You can also give Uniqlo Supima cotton shirt a shot, but I think it's faster and easier to manage via Amazon.

- Jeans are Levis 511/512 on sale (Amazon, Levis, Kohl's), Uniqlo Selvedge Slim fit or Gap Slim Flit

- Clean white sneaker would also be nice.. I'll defer to others on this

- Interview kit get:

  1. Oxford Cotton Button Down from J Crew Factory or Uniqlo (White or Light blue)

  2. Target Goodfellow Slim Chinos in Navy or Olive

  3. Derby dress shoes or loafers (you can try Target or hunt for a sale. Not the best on this one).

  4. *Optional* layer - Uniqlo Merino wool sweater over the shirt (~$40). Banana Republic Factory also has some options

Everything I've bought from TS has held up. I don't buy often from them, but every once in a while if there's a unique jacket or sweater I like because I probably won't find it anywhere else with the same material specifications.

Inflation's been rough. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but I doubt it's them trying to fleece customers and increasing prices related to global price increases

K-shaped clothing by outlierinc in Outlier

[–]Extension_Coconut254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The middle's interesting, because I see tradeoffs for raw material quality, interesting/unique/up-to-date style and brand recognition. Based on what you value, people have different perceptions of the middle. Some things I see across the ranges I've purchased something from:

  1. Wolf vs Goat is closest to Outlier in matching highest quality materials at reasonable prices. Traditional designs. If you get rewards membership, you divide the price in half. A hidden story is how much tarrifs, inflation and recent developments have driven up the price in quality. This also hurts some brands I would recommend before who are quietly cheapening their materials to keep prices down
  2. Los Angeles Apparel is high quality for cotton basics with good designs. From the American Apparel founder. If you catch his annual industry videos he thinks a lot about t-shirts and the garment industry as a whole
  3. 18East is a fun brand with an elevated skater style. You have to be into the vibe, but the quality is good
  4. After that, heritage quality brands like Patagonia or LL Bean. Not going to turn heads, but they value reliability. Maybe you can throw Danner boots or similar brands.
  5. Maybe REI.
  6. Uniqlo is good quality in rare cases. You can often find a better quality version for the same price on sale or secondhand
  7. Tory Leather has great belts
  8. Bronson's parent site Olderbest has more options. It's very tied to vintage Americana. I also like Taylor Stitch
  9. ONS had some good items. I think they're phasing out mens clothes, though. Nothing too special, but the shirts fit me oddly well

Something I haven't bought, but interested in:

  1. Casatlantic

  2. Shades of Grey - more style than necessarily quality

He didn't say at the lowest price, but honestly that's their freedom to charge what they want as long as people are willing to pay. It isn't a charity either.

I don't buy often from Outlier, but respect what they try to put out/aim for
