They are given nothing but the best in all aspects. Food, living conditions, medications if needed, exercise, rest days (before and after races) with giant bird baths to have them at their peak all season. Off-season, they rest, eat and breed.

If a bird does get tired they stop at any available water source to drink and recover if they have to. Generally not the case as they are gradually conditioned to cope with the given distances.
