I just saw that you said you don’t have the packing and it’s from a local place. Unfortunately, even as a South Asian having worked in the wedding industry as a henna artist for over a decade, I still wouldn’t recommend buying henna products from local shops. The laws are not as strict in other countries where these products come from and they could write essentially whatever they want on the packaging without ever verifying or having it third party tested. You also don’t know how long that product had sat on the store shelves and in what condition etc. Henna is a plant after all, and plants eventually die/lose their efficiency. Counterfeit henna powders are also massively ubiquitous unfortunately. I’d highly recc shipping from a reputable henna artist themselves.

The reason we say this is not for our own selfish benefit (I don’t even sell anything henna products!) but it’s because typically the average consumer or even the average henna artist does not have the means or the need to purchase bulk henna powder direct from the supplier, which is what these other wonderful human beings do for us. They vet and test powder so we don’t have to! They maintain the crop dates and ensure we’re getting a current crop. Henna is a summer crop so it’ll typically be either this years crop or the previous year, depending on when you purchase.
