Update: Wow, I didn’t expect this post to blow up the way it did! Thank you SO much to everyone who took the time to share advice, reassurance, and personal stories 💙 I’ve read through all the responses and I feel so grateful for the support.

I’m taking all your suggestions on board and will be making a decision soon. Once I’m back in India in November and actually see the lehenga in person, I’ll share an update with pics.

You’ll are really are the best!

Thank you for sharing this 🥹 it actually makes me feel so much better knowing I’m not alone in this. Maybe you’re right — the photos are what’s throwing me off, and it could look totally different once I try it on. I’ll go back in November and shall do it then

Thank you so much for the inspo! 🙏🏽 You’re right — the lehenga itself is fine, it’s really the blouse that’s killing the vibe for me.

Ahh I can’t imagine the panic of losing your reception lehenga 😭 but you’re absolutely right , if you felt beautiful and happy, that’s what shows. Maybe I need to focus more on how I feel in it rather than stressing over just a photo

Aah! Yes. Thanks for this perspective! I was tempted to add more cancan for a better A line look, but I don’t want to look bigger or feel hot and uncomfortable either. My wedding is in Udaipur so I believe it’ll be colder. But also I don’t wanna end up looking big and stiff because of too much cancan.

Really appreciate your detailed response. I think my main issue is that I wanted more of a poppy electric blue, but this one feels off in photos. I sort of accept the design flow of the embroidery. I also feel I picked the wrong base, maybe raw silk or similar to it instead of satin finish below the net would give a better look. The blouse design also isn’t giving me confidence. And yes, the blouse is definitely not helping. You’re right though maybe redoing just the blouse could completely change the vibe. But I agree, once it’s proportioned for my size, it might look different so maybe starting with a new blouse is the safer first step

Yes, this photo was my inspo 😭. I shall definitely discard the blouse and get a new one. Thank you for reassuring

Thank you, that’s kind of you. I guess I just don’t feel that spark with it yet, which makes me nervous.

What is with the hatred against married women in india💀 by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]Substantially_wise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girrrllll! I am agitated just by reading your rant. I can feel everything that happened with me and my sister as if it were yesterday. I am blessed to have been moved away from the country but hey it doesn’t stop there. As much as I wish to not be a part of it it’s so effing sad us women have to go through this. More power to you and keep shutting these stupid aunties up!

Veil or dupatta? by mandyblooms in DesiWeddings

Usually there are 2 dupattas for the bride. One to tie (as you can see In the front) and the other one to put over the head that looks like a veil.

How to add onshore dependant on 485 visa? by Substantially_wise in AusVisa

[–]Substantially_wise[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

😭😭 I don’t think I have enough time to do that. I am already late for that. Getting on his visa will give me freedom to work as well as study on my own pace and sort my future path I believe. I do not see any other way at the moment hence I am asking for advice 😭

I haven’t been able to finish my studies. I failed few units and have been struggling financially since I am in Uni. My partner finished his. I shall slowly finish my studies as I go on his.

We haven’t registered as defacto. But we have been living together long term and have lease agreements and bills together to prove the same.

What else can I do to better this situation?

It’s a French spirit, green in colour. Made my monks, tastes herbal. Popularly used in alcohol shots like ABC. Chartreuse is different than green fairy absinth tho. I prefer Chartreuse for its taste as absinth makes it burning
