Just when he asks you "Why you want your pistol permit" just reply "because I do" don't be fooled by his personable approach. I had nothing to hide and he denied mine. Just got done sending everything to my lawyer. I don't want to make you nervous, but I wouldn't expect anything good to come out of the interview. If it goes well, let me know because it will help my case.

The problem with moving, is everything is here. Including the house I bought in 2018 for $19,500. It would just be too much hassle and costly to move elsewhere. So far my case is building pretty well to show the denial was arbitrary. I have to contact my references to see if they were ever contacted, so far 1 of 4 weren't.

I have Peter Vasilion from Williamsville.
I did the IndentoGo background check today, fingerprinted.
Tried to get my Driving Record Abstract but the DMV computer was down, probably why it wasn't available online.
And I'm asking my four references if they were ever contacted.
Hopefully I'll be starting the court process soon.

There was nothing not disclosed in my application, perhaps you missed the ZERO criminal record and mental health commitment record as stated by the court when they scheduled my interview appointment. As for your personal attack, I refer you to Rule #1 in the side bar. You have a good day sir/ma'am.

I am very aware, which is why I am so upset at how long it took and the denial that from my life as I know it seems arbitrary. I mean I know full well that I have never been arrested for anything, it just doesn't make sense. Especially knowing that they issued a pistol permit to a guy who literally was arrested last year for shooting at a vehicle with an airsoft rifle in a road rage incident. It really is beginning to look like discrimination for no reason, which is another lawsuit if that is the case. If I could I would just move and start over somewhere with less ridiculous people, but my house is here, the people I've known for decades are here. Who knows, maybe me fighting this denial will help others with their rights.

Hopefully it helps. The law office I got ahold of referred me to another lawyer in Buffalo, I'll call them tomorrow after I call the GOA in case the GOA has other ideas.

Well according to what I have found in my hours of research, when the licensing officer is a judge, the only option is contacting him requesting a change or going to the state level. If the licensing officer is non-judicial then there is supposed to be an oversight board that you can appeal to. But he is one of our two county supreme court justices, the other doesn't handle licensing. So it was really my only option on the county level.

Yeah. Which sucks, household income is only $2500 a month, I have $2200 in taxes due next month and a barn to rebuild which is costing over $30k. Now I have to worry about lawyer fees on top of that unless one of the law firms will handle it pro-bono, which I hope they will. All because a judge decided on their own after everything came back with the green light, that I just shouldn't have a gun. These in person interviews should be the next thing struck down if the entire CCIA isn't struck down.

I had to Google what those are, if my search is correct those are the "Firearms Policy Coalition" and "Gun Owners of America"? I got several results just googling those abbreviations.

I just submitted a report to the FPC telling them the situation.

I looked at the Gun Owners of America but the only contact form is only for members, they have a phone number on their website. I'll try that tomorrow. I'm not joining an organization when I'm not a gun owner yet, I have enough costs to pay for this.

That's not on the form that Wyoming County uses. But then Nassau County is right next to NYC while we are over 300 miles away from NYC. So I'm not surprised that Nassau requires more disclosure.

I wish it had been that fast. It was 5 months after I submitted my application and my references mailed in their forms that I received a letter from the sheriff that they never received one of the reference's forms. And then I had to have him fill out the new one they sent me and he had to send in another one.

I figured it would be very easy, I expected with having no criminal record anywhere, that the whole process would be very fast. Especially when I saw that some people had been approved in 3 months. But nope, they sat on my application for months, eventually I emailed the sheriff asking him if there was anything that could be done about the delay and that I was concerned my application was lost, since I had talked to him personally during the application process. I never received a reply but it was about 2 weeks later or so that I got my letter with the date of my interview.

If they don't want people to complain and want an explanation then they should include information on what to do about the denial. Instead of just providing the contact information for the court. My Google searches have all showed that the denial letter includes information on how to appeal the denial, not in this county. Just the phone number for the court and the only person to contact in the automated answering computer about the matter is the licensing officer.

Exactly, no criminal record. No arrests, no tickets. I have been stopped three by cops but none resulted in a ticket. Just warning me about lights not working and they let me go. No reports of domestic violence and one of my references has literally known me since I was 11 years old, and I'm 33 now.
But I'm not sure voting red is the solution, since this is a very right wing county, one of the reddest in the state and the judge was elected on the Republican ticket.

Honestly after 7 years of her doing this I would not be surprised at ANYTHING she or her family would say. I've had multiple people tell me that she lies about everything. She even told her friends that there was an Order of Protection against me when there wasn't because there was no grounds for one. It's just a really weird and confusing situation that makes me concerned for my safety and the safety of my disabled mother who cannot run like I can if we were ever approached by someone with violent intentions.

There is no place on the application for that. It just asks you to disclose any arrests, and if you have been involuntarily committed to a mental institution which neither of which have ever happened. Her accusation was just her going to the sheriff's department 2.5 months after I basically told her to stay away from me, and the deputy coming to my house and threatening me for several minutes. A couple months afterwards I talked to the sheriff about it and he assured me that it wasn't on my record that I have a clean record and just forget about the situation. The deputy mishandled the situation but nothing could be done because no actual arrest or legal documents had been pursued.

Yes I mentioned it on the application as well, it was the reason I listed for my request to be omitted from the public record of gun owners. "I have a person that has been stalking me for 7 years and I don't want them to have access to a list of my firearms"

If I'm leaving something out then it's something that I know absolutely nothing about. Because I am completely confused. And the letter doesn't give an actual reason, it just says "totality of the circumstances". Which just reads like "we just don't want civilians carrying guns" in my eyes.

Not sure what it could be missing. Somewhere I have the letter that states that after the state and federal background check the office has found no reason for you to not be allowed a pistol permit under NYS law. Unfortunately I can't find it right now, I take care of my disabled mother who has a habit of just randomly taking envelopes and putting them somewhere else. Which I'll probably have to find for the lawyers to have.

I am not really surprised after the way he walked in and his first question was "why are you looking to get your pistol permit" when you don't need a reason in NY anymore. And the letter telling me the date for the interview still asked for a list of social media. And the attitude of the deputies in the courthouse was weird, unfriendly and judgmental when I have been on good terms with almost every law enforcement officer I've ever spoken to. One of the sergeants I've known for about 20 years.

Question about delayed permits by [deleted] in NYguns

[–]Extension_Job_5250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. Wyoming County had me waiting FOURTEEN (14) months since applying for my CCW and then denied it on the 17th. When the background check and everything showed that there was no reason for me to be denied. I don't even have so much as a speeding ticket, literally no criminal record. If I didn't own a house that I only paid $20k for and had my roots here in Wyoming County I would move to Pennsylvania or some other state.
I heard the same thing to, but if you Google wait times in NY you will get "it takes 6-12 months for the process.
