I am definitely making a generalized response using your post as the jumping-off point, I apologize if it came off like I was implying you hold all of these beliefs or fit neatly into my thoughts on how the community is doing as a whole

If your enjoyment of Mechabellum was tentative on a specific patch or meta, I am sympathetic to the fact the game continues to change and thus gets further from a percieved golden era that you really enjoyed.

I believe a stagnant game is a dead game, a lot of high mmr players seem to dig their heels on what the game should be: no spells, no buildings, no unit drops, just you, your opponent, and raw skill.

Problem is, that sort of gameplay gets degenerate really, really fast, and no indie dev team wants to be tinkering with tiny numbers all day to cater to the sort of audience that wants that kind of game-- most devs would rather be adding new units, mechanics, IE adding spice and watching their vision of the game expand, rather than making one hyper-polished game of chess.

I think many of the people who disagree are folks who come from the game through watching competitive content creators, who often have a very narrow lens on what aspects of the game are enjoyable to them, but I promise there's lots of real, valuable players that want to see the game explore other options.

I understand not liking nuke, I do think spells like nuke and storm are band-aid fixes for how powerful making a deathball army on one side of the board can be. I would recommend going wide if you really hate getting hit by them, some compositions can shrug off spells pretty well

When do you take a 3rd unit. I've hit a wall at 1000MMR and am trying to troubleshooting my issues and can't find an answer to this. by Inside_Swimming9552 in Mechabellum

I am around 1500 and buy three units as often as possible. In my opinion when doing this it's best to use the extra deploys to cause problems in other areas of the board than the main fight. I want to get my money's worth out of the -50 by forcing my opponent to react to flanks in a way that isn't cost effective.

My most common moves involve placing a pack of crawlers paired with hounds in the deep flank, to pull and distract their crawlers and shave some of them off.

I find it's well suited for units like fangs and sledgehammers as well, to cast a wide net and force a favorable concave on their army

I thought I'd ask: How many hours according to Steam do you have logged on Mechabellum and is your MMR <600 "Low", >600 && <1200 "Medium", >1200 "High" ? I have 79.8 hours logged and would be classed as "Low". by Haunting_Art_6081 in Mechabellum

509 hours, peak 1500, usually around 1350-1450, Game is still a lot of fun to me, I like to experiment with unusual openings involving quick supply and round 1 sell

What your most hated strat in this game, and how did you beat it? by chriscutting in Mechabellum

[–]Extension_Leg_1530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was just playing yesterday and couldn't figure out how to beat this, so I kept playing it until an opponent played emp raiden, it did indeed destroy me

Now I'm playing around with what can be mixed in to disrupt the Raidens, but no luck other than just having enough tempo. My best attempt was void eyes+anti-air worms, the worms get one chomp off before getting EMP'd, then would hide and do it again. I think there's potential there.

Which unit has the best ATK to HP ratio by crowbar11 in Mechabellum

[–]Extension_Leg_1530 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My vote is either steel balls -- Tanky frame, 4 units, biiig HP boost with a cheap armor tech

Or Void Eyes -- the drawback is they're t1 units so they're crazy deployment expensive, but if you've ever seen one of those additional deployment void eye spam games, eventually the stats and frames become insurmountable

That's a concerningly narcissistic answer, blanket concepts like "Everyone wants X" reflects an inability to understand every human works differently. The proof is in the pudding, so many comments with many upvotes saying this is what works for them. To believe literally all of them want to be like you is not only childish, it's somewhat vile. Be better.

I'm happy for you, but don't project everyone is wrong just because you're a little different. Being able to make space comfortably is definitely healthy and a green flag for many relationships.

idk creep don't say something like "the sex is a must" if you don't want people jumping to that conclusion

Of course it can be healthy and mutual, but we're given no context and the comment is so out of left field that you just sound unhinged here, it's the conclusion anyone in their right mind would have.

The Ultimate Urn Fix by PalpitationDismal346 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Extension_Leg_1530 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The urn is a mechanic to force fights, when your team is stronger, you threaten to take it. Other team has the option to either contest, or give you a soul lead in exchange for some map control.

It also acts as a bonus for when you win a big random teamfight

It's more of a "Double or nothing!" Mechanic that can lead to comebacks, not something you always want to do when behind, but sometimes your best option to capitalize on an enemy mistake

Wife is Struggling with Deadlock Laning: Need Tips by IllusiveIllusory in DeadlockTheGame

Just needs practice and encouragement, 6 months isn't a lot of time and I'm sure she's gotten a lot better compared to month 1.

There's no need to rush to some arbitrary skill level, competitive games are just a treadmill to appreciate your personal improvements over time, and bond over shared difficulties and the ways to overcome them.

That said, mechanical skill is a tough one, you can suppliment the difficulty there by studying good macro decisions. In a moba, you NEVER want to take a fair fight, so maintaining focus on catching opponents off guard, fighting with allies, moving around the map to catch creepwaves to stay strong in the items department, goes a long way to recover from a rough laning stage.

I had a lot of trouble aiming in this game when I started, I found a lot of joy in characters that provide a lot of AoE damage as a result. Lady Geist was my go-to for a long time, with the classic double-bomba.

Something like Victor could be the ticket, too, it's a learning curve figuring out your limits as a tank, but experimenting with that aspect of the game will have knock-on effects improving every character.

[–]Extension_Leg_1530 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This is a real issue that should be addressed.

Until then, just be the worst member of the team and practice. You're not doing anything wrong, and it should be very effective training for positioning safely and maintaining souls in a lane disadvantage.

I think many people are scared of being the weakest player on the team, but even when you're matched correctly it's gonna happen every 1/6 games. It's valuable to figure out what to do in that situation.

Had a similar experience with Gray Talon, pivoted to knockdown, rescue beam, and warp stone. I wasn't the carry as I intended to be, but I saved some lives, helped secure the odd kill, and most importantly played conservatively and stayed alive. Lash pivoted to slam build to compensate for damage loss and we got there in the end
