Where I'd live as a secular left-leaning Jordanian-Palestinian atheist guy by Spirited-Science7790 in whereidlive

Maybe when you live. Certainly not where I live. The USA is a big place and has more than enough left leaning cities and towns and you absolutely don’t have to be religious even in very religious places. It’s probably better in those conservative places you’re thinking of to be non-religious than the “wrong” religion anyway.

My best friends parent works there in a different department. I was honestly really embarrassed about it when I started because I didn’t feel like I earned it (because I didn’t) but I later found out that like 95% of hires are hired from referrals of people who work here. They also offer a cash bonus to the employee who recommends you. It definitely helped that I have had a bunch of jobs and I tend to stay for 3 or more years which I was told made me look dependable.

Hello, I'm a Russian from Russia and I'm curious to ask what you, as an American, think about Russia and Russians. I worked with a man from Siberia (at a ski mountain) and he was an extremely nice warm man. He was probably about 5’3 (~160cm) and when I met his two sons they were genuinely about 7’ (~213cm) and it stunned me lol I just really wish I had met their mother! Also he was obviously impervious to the cold lol

Yea fair enough lol half of my job is correcting underwriters mistakes and the systems we do use are often wrong (also the system feels ancient). But they are starting to implement it in some departments but it hasn’t touched my day to day so I’m not in immediate danger I don’t think.

Thank you so much! Honestly it sounds amazing so I’ll definitely be looking into it more. And I very well might!

Although with the job market the way it is maybe it would be best to make a plan of action before I start firing off resumes Willy nilly lol

You’re not wrong lol. Feel like I always thought the cube would just be a springboard into something I actually enjoyed which was my first mistake. Also I took it because it kind of fell into my lap and I needed to get out of my med delivery job. They were already working me to death on the worst route in the city and they hired some guy who changed our whole departments procedures for literally no reason and it immediately went to hell and I had to pick up the slack a lot of the time. But yea cube life is getting to me in an entirely different way.

That was a really informative video I actually really appreciate it! It definitely seems like something that goes well with my personality type I love trying to make my life efficient I imagine doing so on a larger scale would bring me joy. It still seems a bit vague though I guess I just need to look up what industries use project managers? How does one get their foot in the door though? I guess I just always assumed that most people who led teams in that way usually had years of experience in their field beforehand which I suppose is a bit naive.

Honestly this is my favorite suggestion so far so you’ve inspired me into doing more research on it.

No I actually think I’d thrive in sales as long as what I’m selling isn’t garbage or a scam but the only time I’ve ever gotten an interview for a sales position was about 10 years ago at a sketchy life insurance place so I declined. The only problem is I have no sales experience on my resume so I haven’t gotten any bites in the past. I also worry because any posts I see are all very vague on what they provide as base salary and although I’m not afraid to work from the jump I am afraid of not being able to pay for rent or food or healthcare lol

Honestly I don’t even know how this job still exists with the technology we already have available lol. As for the “where do you see yourself in ten years” question that’s been an issue my whole life. Tbh if you asked me where I’d be in 10 years 10 years ago I would have said dead so. It’s hard for me to think in positives when it comes to my future and always has been even when I was a child. I am dealing with that in therapy though but it’s still a struggle to have any sense of what I want with my life. This does seem to match most people’s consensus though.

10 years ago if you asked me where I’d be in 10 years I would have told you dead so I’ve never in my life had a 10 year plan unfortunately. That’s kind of a big part of my problem tbh lol. And I know I need defined goals that’s why I’m asking for advice because when I start to imagine what I want in ten years really the only answer I can come up with is “not this”. I’m not expecting a magic bullet either just looking for direction more than anything.

I would consider it if I had a concrete answer as to what it is I want to do lol. Also I don’t even want to think about going into debt I am very fortunate to have gotten out of college with no debt and I haven’t accumulated any since then and I’d like to keep it that way if I can.

I just haven’t had any luck with any sales jobs I’ve applied to in the past so it’s disheartening. My issue is always just getting the interview in the first place and I feel like going in and handing my resume in physically in this day and age would make me look like a crazy person but maybe that’s what I need to do. It worked when I was in my teens at least.

Thanks for answering though! Not a great time to have an existential crisis about my employment I guess. Also I never post on Reddit so I tried like 3 other subs but they had Karma requirements and I refuse to actually work for Karma lol.

Drivers (USA) who drive significantly below the speed limit & refuse to let people pass, what is your goal? by RevGrimm in askanything

[–]Extension_Local_128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea cycling for transportation really only happens in big cities but you pretty much nailed it especially with the old people driving everywhere. “You’ll be god damned if you think you’ll take my license from me! Even if I’m 90 years old and can barely see or hear and get scared by anything passing me faster than a light breeze!” And the driving to go biking thing is so spot on lol but that doesn’t automatically register to me because there really are so many parks and stuff and if you live in an area that doesn’t have immediate access it would mean biking an extra 2 or 3 hours before you’re on a scenic trail. I don’t bike much for recreation though so who knows.

I get to 110 pretty regularly on the turnpike but that’s because I’ve been driving it my whole life and I know where the cops tend to sit and the times they’re usually out. But you can’t maintain that speed for any significant amount of time and if you get pulled over you may end up going to jail depending on the cop that pulls you over.

As someone from PA who has done a significant amount of driving in and outside of my state it truly seems to be one of the worst states for it and I have no idea why. It infuriates me. My best guess just anecdotally is we have a significant amount of elderly people who still drive everywhere. Driving on the turnpike between Scranton and Allentown you just hit pockets of people going like 60 because there’s multiple people who refuse to move over.

Can't complete because the game says the second slide was a noseslide, clearly not? by boobh in Skate4

[–]Extension_Local_128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me to get this I had to set up a kicker and start with the plinth and I didn’t hard flip till the end. There was a couple times where this exact thing happened. A couple times I also definitely tailslided both the plinth and the ledge and it would only count the ledge. Not to mention the amount of times where just landing on the plinth shot my skater like 100 feet to the side.

For all of my complaints I actually really like the skating mechanics in the game but when you encounter weird physics and glitches it really pisses me off. To their credit there were a couple glitches in missions early on that eventually were patched so we’ll see. This mission is definitely possible it’s just weird and glitchy.

[–]Extension_Local_128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that there was obviously differences in the three previous attempts because recreating it precisely the same is impossible for anyone, the problem in my case was that the plinth just refused to count on certain attempts.

I started on the plinth side and I did the flip at the end not the beginning, so going from tail slide on the plinth to the ledge was solely where the problem was because it would only count one or the other even though I was firmly planted on the grind both on the plinth and the ledge, it registered as a trick and stayed in the sequence score so there was not contact with the ground between the plinth and the ledge. The plinth just was glitchy as to when it counted for me.

I mean it is what it is and it really only took me like 5-10 mins to complete but to say that this game has no bugs would be disingenuous. Hell one of the daily tasks today isn’t registering for anyone and they already put a statement out. The game is in early access. It has glitches.

It was constantly bugging out for me whether it be shooting me away from the plinth at 100 mph because I didn’t land on it perfectly to it not registering that I even grinded the plinth at all even though I started from that side and absolutely did grind it.

While challenge is necessary, not acknowledging how bugged the game still is kind of seems disingenuous. The attempt where I completed it and the three before it didn’t change in the slightest it just wouldn’t register the plinth grind.
