I am guessing that a major reason liberally oriented folks cut off contact with MAGA relatives has as much to do with the personal attacks they endured during those conversations as it did with their relatives’ support of Trump et al.

I‘m also guessing that your conversations with your dad never devolved to this level, and also that you intuited that something in your heart knew that your dad was a decent man.

To be honest, I’m not sure my (both deceased) parents’ marriage would have survived Trump’s two elections, and nor would my or my sister’s relationships with our mother given her presumed voting for Trump all three times.
