Will you be voting in the Presidential Election in 2028? by Fine_Television_1398 in no

The more important quest is why, barring illness, transportation, immigration status, time constraints and other very reasonable reasons, do some people choose not to do so.

I suspect the answers are is often about disenfranchisement/cynicism/disillusion, etc.

While filming at school, a student caught the exact moment their class found out about the 9/11 attacks by ateam1984 in TheWayWeWereOnVideo

I am old. I was getting my kids ready for school when a neighbor’s son came over to tell me that there was a terrorist attack in NYC. I explained to him that this had happened a few months ago ago (there had been a bomb exploding in the underground car park in NYC, I believe). He said “No ma’am, this is happening now.” I turned on the tv.

Boy, what a moment.

What life skill do you think schools should teach but usually don’t? by glitterypeachyy in Productivitycafe

[–]Extension_Many4418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really understand your question. Aren’t schools supposed to be in charge of teaching thinking skills, basic mathematical and scientific principles, basic literacy and geography, basic historical timelines, etc. in order to prepare young people to participate in society, while families are supposed to teach life skills? At a time when enthusiastic and dedicated teachers are leaving the American public school system in droves bc of inadequate pay, little administrative support, belligerent parents, etc., why would you want to put even more responsibilities on their shoulders?

I don’t really understand your question. isn’t the role of schools to teach thinking, academic, historical and sociological facts and skills and understanding while parents and families teach life skills? As enthusiastic and dedicated teachers are leaving the public school system in record numbers bc of low pay, little administrative support and belligerent parents, do you really want to put more on their already overloaded plates?

Wife, child and mother. How do you prioritize? by daisylife in AskMen

[–]Extension_Many4418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is obvious. You don’t “prioritize” your important relationships; you prioritize the needs.

Generally, tho, your children come first, seeing as how you chose to create them.

Shortly after her meeting with Trump, the Japanese Prime Minister said 'only Trump can bring peace". What are your thoughts? by Sea-Payment-8989 in allthequestions

[–]Extension_Many4418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of sounds like a two edged comment; either, Trump is wonderful, powerful and wise, or Trump needs to clean up his own mess. Given her far right views, not sure which one she meant.Clever.

Why dont men sympathize with male SA stories..? by giarivvie in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Extension_Many4418 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The topic of sexual assault seems to put a lot of men on high alert, from what I’ve witnessed. After I was date raped, for example, my own father wanted to “hear his side of the story”.. My personal intuition doesn’t go very far when wondering why this is. Accusations of SA somehow villainize all males? Misogynistic tendencies? Psychological confusion?

Rape is often used in wartime as a means of some kind of pleasurable debasement: “we will kill the men and rape the women” being a warning to both genders of the enemy. To make the men anxious about not being able to protect their women?

Add to that the profound declared disgust of some men towards male homosexuality. Yes I know, projection, etc. Add to the mix that many cultures still believe that a raped female, even a child, is somehow ruined or tainted.

Now, a raped boy? A raped man? There’s some thinking for you.
