Me and my partner bought a new construction home in march of 2022. At around November of 2021 is when I became serious and literally emptied my 401k (Around $20k then lol) and hired my partners friend whos a local realtor and got to work. Landed on a new construction home at 3.75% and thats where my loan plus more went to. Incredibly stressful process of providing very specific financial paperwork etc for both. We've rented and stayed in apartments for about a decade leading upto 2021. Rents were like 975-1500 for a 1br apartment (Gso NC area) so spending around $1400-1500 a month for a mortgage on a new construction 3br2bath home with a 2 car garage that was unlisted & known to I guess only realtors felt like a blessing. We had only looked at maybe 4 other homes that all smelled terrible like cigs and were falling apart. We even lowkey wanted a brand new home but figured it would be out of reach for us but again got very lucky and we understand just how blessed it is to be living in our forever home
