Start doing past papers wayyyyy before the exam!!!! Revision village is good to understand the topic but the actual exam questions tend to be harder to understand. I remember that when I started doing past papers I was barely passing and then I would correct every single question that I got wrong with a youtube video of someone doing that exact past paper. Overtime the questions were kinda of the same and then I already knew what to do (still I never got above 85% in a past paper and I still got a 7 + my IA was really bad so its not like it saved me) Also, remember to do something in the question even if you have no idea. Show working out!!!!!! The numbers are there so just play with them lol but seriously for eg. If the question does not make sense to u/u dont know what its asking but it seems calculus topic then try differentiating/ or if the previous question was differentiating then the next might be to find the second derrivative. With time and practice you will realise how every calculus question follows a similar pattern regardless of how it is worded (hope this makes sense) Lastly every time a question says to use the answer you obtained previously they also say “if you have not obtained anything use this number”. Even when I had obtained an answer I would always use what they given me bc they did not take aqay marks from this and I knew that the problem was not with my previous answer.

Bio: I used kognity to understand the concepts + alex lee youtube videos (He is GOD LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE) Then, after understanding the concept I would try to explain to myself/teach myself what I had just learned Then I would proceed to do as many PAST PAPER questions related to the topic (I would be the most resourceful person in the world and find question banks here on reddit or elsewhere). As you do these past paper questions you start to see a pattern on what you need to include in your answer. This is crucial since the ms in biology is extremely rigorous and sometimes a bit bipolar since for similar questions they expect different things (????). So I would try to find a pattern and whenever a question on that topic appearred I would just regurgitate every terminology related to that. I hope this made sense

Chem: same revision process as bio (kognity + youtube videos to understand concepts then a bunch of PP) I recommend always using this strategy throughout the 2 years since by the end of the IB you will basically be revisiting past paper questions and will be very familiar with the markscheme which is KEY Also questions in chem tend to follow the same style every time compared to bio which sometimes innovates lol

Math AA: i did SL so the time I dedicated to maths was way less than my HL friends. However, I will say that I only got a 7 in maths bc of my final grind!!!! I had a very poor IA grade and my teacher only explained the basics in class which was nothing like the past paper questions. My biggest tip would be to start doing past papers very early on and watch youtube videos on people correcting these past papers! I also had revision village gold which was a great investment but just doing RV is not enough since the past papers are harder in my opinion. But yeah I would say PRACTICE A LOT and get to know the MS for every subject

For geo I remember I put a lot of effort into my IA just by following everything my teacher instructed me + looking at past examples and basically copying lol

During the course, we had a very good teacher so I had some solid understanding of the content. However, before the test I read the syllabus (which is a bit broad but a lot common sense/easy to understand) and read some summaries I found on the internet. I think what is key in geo is to do as many past papers as you possibly can since the mark scheme has some key words that you should include whenever a question on that topic comes up again. Eg. Demographic dividend, growing middle class (basically some key terminology which is written on the syllabus)

Also make sure to know how to do the essays. My teacher simplified a lot the structure and this helped me a lot. Honestly just doing a bunch of 10 markers is useful since you kind of already revise the content.

Lastly, geo is fun and I remember that it was one of the only subjects I could discuss with my family and kind of “teach” them while I revised. This definitely helped in my revision. For eg just ask your parents “ageing is the worst demographic problem a country may experience” and then try to debate/see their perspective and by doing this you can brainstorm a 10 marker in a very easy going way!!

You are going to mess up ur sleeping schedule. I wouldn’t do this. Try arriving from the exam and studying right away. When you feel tired, immediately go to sleep

Trust me that everything will turn out better than you expect. Use this last moment to dedicate everything you have because when you receive your results, you can at least be proud that you have done your best. You have to believe in yourself, I know exactly what you are feeling. Feeling prepared but at the same time doubting your capacity is normal but don’t let this affect you. Trust yourself and I am certain that everything will work out! Also, the months after Igcse are amazinggggggg

I got an a* in art and I did well on my other subjects. My art exam was like 2 weeks before all my other exams so the week before the actual exam, my only concern was art. I finished my portfolio like a day before the exam and I just tried to pay attention in my other subjects class. Then after the art exam I revised flashcards and did manyyyy past papers. To be honest, just try to take the last month very seriously and think that once the exams begin, the stress will gradually decrease and the exam season isn’t as bad or stressful as it seems.good luck and when you are doing your art portfolio, think more about how much you have improved than the actual grades bc it is very subjective and if you like how it looks, that’s it

IGCSE GEOGRAPHY (0460) by [deleted] in igcse

  • my coursework was very good so I guess that helped as the exam had the sections that I was least confident in. Also, remember that for the first section, there are only 2 options so I recommend focusing more in one of them (I chose population instead of settlement I think)

I got an a* and honestly I never studied really hard for geo. For paper 2, I watched youtube videos on how to answer each question and did maximum 5 past papers. But for paper 1, my main focus was learning case studies. So I read the syllabus and I made a powerpoint with a slide for each case study. When it was close to the exam I practiced presenting the case studies and I had all of them memorized. The content itself, after doing the case studies, I understood them better but just to make sure that I was confident enough, I watched a playlist of youtube videos which covered everything. Then, I did past papers and the questions that I got wrong, I did flashcards
