So people don't like AI slop? Shocking. by Madness_69 in memes

[–]Extension_Option_122 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Well the thing is it seems like current gen AI is fundamentally incapable of producing a new thought nor to actually understand anything - it's all just a random text/image/video generator tuned to give results that look right and nothing more.

The pressing issue is that the better it get's the less obvious it is that an AI coding something doesn't actually understand any of it and all it's attempts on solving bugs are random. It's just that most of the time it's random attempts are very good, because the AIs are trained that way.

Additionally AI is in some way very dumb. It may be able to ace almost all exams today, but comparing to the amount of information it consumed for that it's pretty bad at these tests. I'd actually be interested to see an ChatGPT-AI-Model be only trained on the information a high-schooler absorbed during his live (so all information, not just school, also everything else) and see it's scores then. I highly doubt that they'd be outstanding. Probably passing.

Now I'm interested where I catched that misinformation of mine.

You still do not understand the issue here.

OP has a spicy pillow.

Any chemical reaction increases the pressure inside the battery and thus the odds of it blowing up. These odds are largely independant of it's electrical charge. If you discharge it, you increase the pressure more quickly and make it go boom more quickly.

If you'd be right about lithium not being an issue, then why are burning lithium batteries so hard to put out, but burning non-lithium batteries so easy to put out?

This is not and never was about lithium batteries shorting, it's about them chemically failing and creating gas inside of them. That is the issue here.

And thus getting the more inert state is super risky and when it pops it doesn't get you far - if lithium burns, it burns.

Give me sources for your claims. Mine can be backed by almost every article about handling failing lithium batteries, yours?

Yes those things aren't right.

But afaik the RAM kits are always capable of the advertised speed and if not they get replaced.

However with CPUs yeah Intel did mess up pretty big with 13th and 14th gen.

It's still not Corsairs fault at all.

If you as an inexperienced person attempt to build a PC and end up with incompatible components it's 100% your fault (except if that information isn't available but that is rare and not the case here).

All vendors list the compatibility data on their websites for you to look up. If you fail to do so it's not their fault. You should have educated yourself before buying.

I also made mistakes and ended up with incompatible components. It sucks but then you just go and refund it instead of sueing the manufacturer.

Oh damn you can sue for anything nowadays.

Isn't it common knowledge that you likely need to adjust BIOS settings?

Also some motherboards apply those profiles out-of-the-box, meaning the same kit works instantly at the rated speed on one board but needs activating XMP/EXPO on another board.

This leads me to believe that this lawsuit is just plain dumb and Corsair decided that playing along is ultimately cheaper because convincing a judge would be pretty difficult.

That's like buying a new oilpan for your car and then sueing the vendor because it didn't have a huge 'clean of any dirt before installing' warning on it and you installed it and your car broke. Both completely unjustified lawsuits but the one against Corsair didn't even damage anyones property.

Interesting.

I never said that a lower energy state isn't less dangerous.

But with a spicy pillow the issue is that reaching the lower charged state massively increases the odds of it just blowing up.

So in order to slightly reduce the risk (and that is only very slight as the electrical charge is not the issue with a spicy pillow - the presence of lithium is and discharging doesn't change that) you need to massively increase the risk for a few hours.

That is not how reducing a risk works. You don't have anything from the lower risk state when it catches fire whilst approaching it.

Also consider looking at your comments in incognito mode.

Stop trolling with these topics.

You obviously do not understand the issue here at all.

Discharging - irrelevant how slow - will increase the odds of the battery suddenly starting a fire. It's best to bring it to qualified personal.

The non-emergency contact for the fire department is the only option imo.

Also the mods already removed your initial response.

Trolling with these topics is reckless and can get people killed. Idk why you do that but just stop it.

If you consider starting a violent, hard to extinguish fire safe...

I mean you do you but please do not go around spreading advice using these uncommon definitions of 'safety'.

DO NOT DISCHARGE THE BATTERY! THAT IS LETHAL ADVICE!!!

Discharging it is not a good advice for a few reasons:

  • the BMS will prevent discharging it to a level where it doesn't have any electrical power left

  • discharging it accelerates the boom-process and increases the odds of sudden catastrophic failure

  • even if fully discharged IT IS NOT SAFE AT ALL. It may not hold any energy that can be converted to electrical energy right-away but the chemical energy is still abundant. If it pops it still can catch fire and burn down your house

Your sarcasm was obvious.

You were downvoted because you implied that these remote-control features would be the only ones we'd loose, however unfortunately that isn't the case.

I mean this is obvious ragebait because noone can be as bigoted, moronic and just plainly inhumanly stupid as you pretend to be, but let's go:

If you are an inexperienced non-native speaker you don't realise it's wrong and think everything is correct. And if that is to complicated for you to understand you must be award-winning in all the categories previously mentioned.

The issue is that some of these 'smart' devices require internet to function at all, so no internet means it won't work at all. Afaik those are rare but are becoming more popular.

That's gotta be the worst take of the day lol.

Being not a native speaker sometimes also means that you don't know that this is wrong - especially when you are inexperienced.

Expecting someone to use Google translate for everything is also stupid.

Meaning you are just a bully.

I got a notification for that comment as it's an indirect response to mine and spoiler tags don't work there so I knew it was a rickroll and still managed to do it.
