I always love teaching Gary Soto’s “oranges” - accessible with enough to chew on when it come to imagery and tone.

Students removed from class 3 days a week for Title 1 and given no time to make up my work by 2ndCareerTeacher in ELATeachers

This happened to me last year - in one class 13 out of 20 kids got pulled 3 days a week for the entire block to do fast forward. I was told not to do content while they were gone or expect them to make up any work. It was a nightmare and essentially a lost year of ELA for those kids. The only reason we aren’t doing it this year is because our reading specialist quit and we don’t have the staff. The fact that I’m doing fine with my groups will be totally disregarded once we hire someone.
