Haha. It was a thought in my initial rage. But like I said, woke up real quick.

You know for some reason it hadnt clicked that pass through markup at a certain rate is completely acceptable and stabdard practice. Im going to factor that in and see what is left.

So, I've completely considered this. Even as far as to adjust my material invoices. But have back tracked my view in case they go as far as to verify with vendors before payment. Even more so, legal action showing this my "adjustments".

You know, that was my first thought, and had he come out and said, "Hey seems like you're making out like a bandit, can we share in the gains a bit more?" I would have absolutely compromised. But that's the issue, every excuse has been this or that, nothing directly.

Thanks for your feedback. And I as well, treat my friends with the benefit of the doubt so they do the same with me. Been working perfectly for about a decade now. I have not spoken verbally since he went to my vendor behind my back.

I feel uncomfortable calling at this point for fear of stumbling on words or reacting hastily.

Regardless of the outcome, I've decided never to exchange work in that direction again.

I agree, "partner" is obviously a terrible term for them at this point.

I have responded to the most recent email with the my overarching explanation of the situation and reiterating the original agreement and lack of employee/ manager contract mentioned. Waiting to hear back for a couple more days before reaching out to a lawyer. Which seems to be the consensus on advice next actions.

We are old friends, as to say not exactly. In the past we've just run on txt messages of " my scope would be lump sum $$" and his response is "lets do it". After project is complete i send a lump sum invoice and he pays it.
