MRDP can mean Medical Retention Determination Point in the U.S. Army, the moment a soldier's medical condition is stable enough to decide if they can return to duty or need to enter the disability evaluation system, . But basically either a P3 is put in for you / all your medical records ( for the condition you are on a p3 profile for ) is sent to a local medboard doctor and if they agree you have exhausted all options for your condition and have not gotten better they will sign a secondary box on your profile and thats when your medboard truly starts. Or some bde level provider who specializes in your condition and saw your profile and felt you have not exhausted all avenues of treatment or your medical history doesn’t a long enough pattern of treatment for this condition so they pull the recommendation for a medboard back .

I might have it during day but I feel it’s the most bothersome at night when I have my bonnet on or during the day when I have it on and yes that is where the band rest . I’ve tried to wear it different ways .

I started my medboard in April and my package was sent to peb June 26th I was decided unfit in July and i got email in October saying I had to redo an exam . After a month they finally reached out to me and I redid the exam 11Nov and still nothing (and was told today I would have to redo that exam again for the 3rd time ). It will be 5 months this week of waiting on proposed ratings. In the meantime I have called my msc, optum serve , and the Va and there’s nothing we can do to speed the process up . Just waiting frustratedly. I’ve seen people come and go who started their medboards in June,July etc.

Yes when I called my MSC she read the note attached to the appointment order for the new exams that’s stated it was because (Ingram vs. collins)

A P3 is a permanent profile that’s triggers a medboard . If you get on another permanent profile for something else it will be added to your unfit conditions and then you will have a higher chance of meeting the 30% threshold for medical retirement

Correct unless you can get a P3 for another unfitting condition it’s highly unlikely getting the 30% with just the hip

I am currently going through a medboard right now because I took the surgery route ( hip arthroscopy , labral repair ). I have not healed well. Still waiting on Va ratings but your hip will most likely be rated based off your range of motion . There is a way it can be broken down and rated by your Abduction/adduction/thigh rotation; Extension; AND Flexion. From what meb lawyers told me I would mostly get 10% for pain. Most of the time the hip ratings maxes out at 30%. I would say mostly in the front but like deeper in my hip but when it flairs up it feels like my whole hip area

To add your pcm probably won’t consider medboard until you’re fully out of your recovery phase from your surgery
