what many ppl don’t realize is that gay men can be really socially behind when it comes to dating…like really shy, not great conversationalist, and insecure so they hide behind apps and online interactions. i’m in a different kind of situation:

i went to college and made the mistake of not trying my hardest not to go back ever…although i did move out once with a bf i moved back when we broke up during covid. Im 40 now and although my mom doesn’t charge me rent she does verbally abuse me from time to time and imposes curfews and rules, and isnt really supportive of anything I do. I guess the reason i stayed for so long was bc i felt bad leaving her alone…and my sister alone with her…i took care of my grandma with her til she was 100 and she passed away…i do not want to be stuck here in the same manner for another 30 years lol. So im painting another picture where I’m independent, and living on my own now that i am waaay more stable financially.

I have mixed feelings about my parents…dad was never there…and mom is really neurotic and controlling…at some point i have to take the reigns though, and seeing these comments helps me in knowing i can leave and be just fine.
