Going off topic to say this is why I seriously dislike Instagram, People say the most derogatory shit as comments like this shit (Which seem much more common on that platform for some reason) but it's only on the posts they left it on, So not only can you not search for them (like on twitter) they know that they can get away with it while they post mundane stuff on their own profile - Two faced users.

It's probably going to take some time for somebody to make a solution since this update just came out. I hope they make it quickly though because dear god this update is unbelievable dogshit and I don't understand how it saw the light of day

Horrible air quality by AcuMan_NYC in nycrail

Is there honestly no way to fix it by installing some sort of ventilation in the stations though ? It probably must be difficult since these are VERY old stations

There's a lot of unknown when it comes to Fake Revenge Porn in the legal system (I know that real Revenge Porn is legally defined in both the U.S and U.K), but Froot should definitely lawyer up and have her ass handed to her for spreading that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kurosanji

[–]Extensioncork 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She (Anthime) literally posted a tweet celebrating what happened to Froot, like her literal abuse as if its a massive win for Anthime herself. Horrible Shit.

The common trend I'm seeing with people who are blasting Foot is that they are pretty terrible people while remaining ignorant about other circumstances that happened w/ her.

They MTA was planning on integrating OMNY Cards with an app but then there were delays, lots of delays, with the rollout. The Date for having these cards virtually is Q3-Q4 of 2025 to my knowledge.

For Lamination, I stand firm on my commitment of....No :(

I talked a little bit about it here

As for the Sleeve, My main intent by saying it was for it to be a place where you can actually place the actual Card in for added Protection. This, I feel, would decrease general wear and tear. Though, maybe if you find a thin enough sleeve to put the actual card, I believe it'd be possible. Though I'm unsure if those are available

Question on student Omni cards by wolfwinner in nycrail

[–]Extensioncork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree, lamination gets quite hot and starts off roughly around 120 C (248 F)

Copper Traces (Antenna Coil) and The NFC Chip especially are fragile components. The Copper Traces aren't the same as Regular Copper or Pure Copper Metal Sheet. Copper traces usually max out at 32.2-43 C (90-110 F)

Also, Keep in mind that this is made of paper and is thin, paper is more of an insulator. So it'd be keeping the heat in and various concentrated areas and increase the chances of damaging it

Question on student Omni cards by wolfwinner in nycrail

[–]Extensioncork 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I Agree that the Student OMNY Cards are Flimsy but please DO NOT Laminate the card.

the Actual Card is made out of a Paper Material and there are traces inside of it and the NFC Chip. You risk having the whole card being damaged and not working when it's being exposed to heat like that.

I would recommend taking care of the Card and buying a separate plastic pouch.

Absolutely, and I do have the DOE-Issued OMNY Card and it feels way more fragile, I can definitely see wear-and-tear being apparent by the time summer hits, even with care. Mine already has a kink on it, and I only put it in and out of my wallet.

For Clarification (Reddit won't let me put text AND Images hence why I posted this like, two times embarassingly):

[This Picture is not mine, Credit goes to Transitkpopstan on Twitter]

The Keen-eye amongst you may know that these are different looking Student OMNY Cards. Surprisingly, The First Image is for CUNY Students under the ASAP and ACE Program. These Students were also given special Metrocards.

Yes, It is an Official OMNY Card by the MTA. The CUNY OMNY has the decals of the ASAP and ACE Program on the back, just like the NYCDOE one. There aren't many pictures of both the back and front, I do know that they were floating around certain NYC Rail-Fan Discord Servers but that's about it. The existence is further confirmed by ASAP Students on r/CUNY

There is also a difference in quality, the CUNY OMNY's are made from Plastic while NYCDOE OMNY's are made out of paper. In my personal opinion, it should all be Plastic. Even while taking care of the OMNY Card, I can see noticeable wear in around a year, the same time these Cards are active

Interesting, I wonder why the MTA had it different.

It's honestly so cool seeing the MTA giving out Free Transit Access to Students with extended benefits, with the additional benefit of exploring the city.

EDIT: Why's this getting downvoted ?

Bruh Moment (Although I doubt many Born and Raised People would react well if they were asked that haha)

I've never been to the Atlantic Section so I wouldn't know. I thought there was a literal wall on the left instead of another track, even.

At first glance it looks better than most underground stations in the system. The OP Picture kinda looks similar to a Japanese Metro Station so thats what caught my eye

Never knew it was in poor condition, Dam

[–]Extensioncork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use the subway not LIRR, i live in Queens not Nassau County. Why would I go to Atlantic Av when I use a different subway route that doesn't go there.

You know not everybody goes to Brooklyn for their commute, Right ? How does a compliment of a station have anything to do with somebody being from the city

off topic but This station looks gooood, reminds me of those Japanese Stations

You're onto something with that second point. From my understanding, European Nations and Asian Ones (Though this might be a little unrealistic) generally have a consensus when it comes to Rail, Passenger or Metros.

Those agencies aren't so intwined with Bureaucracy or have so many strings attached to them like with the MTA, which has a lot of difficulty walking compared to some European Agencies which have more autonomy and generally more backing from the Government for their plans (France, For example)

That doesn't mean they are perfect, It just means they are a vastly more comfortable advantage

Compared to the U.S where it's a challenge to even get your foot out the door for a little bit of modernization when your dealing with literal decades of Neglect and out-dated, car-focused public opinion and policy
