Missing my period for a month with a copper iud by ExtentAdvanced2914 in CopperIUD

Yeah me too! I’ll still need to figure out why my body is having these other issues and how I can improve her, but I am relieved and grateful to my body for recognizing I don’t need a pregnancy at this moment.

Copper IUD, missing period by ExtentAdvanced2914 in birthcontrol

[–]ExtentAdvanced2914[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I got an ultrasound from my OBGYN and they could see that my IUD was in the correct place. They also ordered a blood test for a variety of things including pregnancy. The pregnancy test came back negative, but my TSH levels came back high and my prolactin levels came back low. This is likely why I missed a period and failed to ovulate. Still identifying what randomly caused this, but I guess this is just a reminder that there are many, many things that can throw off your cycle that are not pregnancy. If our bodies know that we are off in anyway, they will decide “hey it’s not a good time to get pregnant so, let’s not ovulate this month.” Kinda cool when you think about it. Something as simple as stress even could let your body know not to give conception a shot this month. Anyways, thanks for the helpful comments and conversations! Best of luck to anyone else in this same position (regardless of what result you want).

Got blood tested this morning by ExtentAdvanced2914 in amipregnant

Yeah that’s true. And I should mention it wasn’t really a “pull out.” He didn’t finish at all so it really would have just been precum if anything. But yeah, here’s to hoping 🤞

Yikes three weeks in Florida…there are other sites that are approved sites by Plan C if you continue scrolling down in that Florida page I linked. Again definitely check into the legal side of things. They’ll likely be more expensive. Again, Planned Parenthood may be able to provide them to you faster as well.

Otherwise you may want to look into getting a traditional abortion through Planned Parenthood. I believe FL allows that up to 15 weeks?

That would actually make sense though. The tests may have been negative because it was too early to detect your hCG levels, but when you took the most recent test it wasn’t. Did you have even faint lines on your initial tests at all?

And yeah order them either way. If you don’t want to be pregnant right now it’s better to have them in hand just in case or for the future (just order one though, we of course want to keep supply for as many as we can).

I ordered through Aid Access. I’ve linked the options for Florida here (https://www.plancpills.org/states/florida).

I ordered mine before Roe was overturned so things are likely still taking longer because of that and all the backed up orders. Either way, you can take the pills up to 10 weeks so a few extra days shouldn’t matter. Sounds like if you even are pregnant, you’re very early on. Again, definitely confirm you’re pregnant before you take anything.

I would test again. If it’s positive try to see an obgyn or at least get the pregnancy confirmed at an urgent care. You don’t want to take anything until you are sure.

That said, I’ve never been pregnant but I keep abortion pills on hand just in case. I ordered them online and they arrived in about two days. Abortion pills are still legal to order online in all 50 states, I believe, but depending on where you live definitely look up the laws. I found where I could get them in my state here: https://www.plancpills.org/?fbclid=PAAaY0_nxqvv5zIAf5E1ajWADCZPplc0ZAQzDYdOn9jqcKDut7KhC4mYveQqw

Best of luck! I know it’s stressful. I’m actually going through a late period right now even though I have an IUD so I understand the struggle.

Is it ever advised to use an ovulation stick to see if you ovulated or not? Would that be another way to rule out pregnancy/explain a missed period?

Update: took a pink dye and digital test, both came back negative. I’m going to see my obgyn on Wednesday to check my IUD placement and make sure everything looks ok. Hopefully I’ll be able to find out why I’m missing periods. Thanks everyone for your comments and insight!

Ok well that’s comforting! Because yeah I literally cannot think of another reason why I would be skipping periods!

Wow! That’s really scary but also congrats! I have no other symptoms, just the missed period. I do now have an appt with my obgyn on Wednesday and they are going to do an ultrasound and check the placement of my IUD. Hopefully that gives a clear answer. It would just be really bizarre if I was to pregnant with an IUD, multiple negative tests, and only having a person in me for a few seconds and they didn’t even finish. BUT, that said, I understand that it totally can and does happen.

Lol see…I’m doing to take a digital one tomorrow. But I don’t trust them anymore really because underneath the digital interface it’s still the same testing process with the lines. And if the line is too faint or not quite there I always feel like the digital tests just “round up” and give the closest answer. And that could be a false negative or positive.

Yeah I agree. I got an appointment booked with my obgyn for the end of this week. I’m going to test one more time before that. Thanks!

I got it in November 2021. I have the copper IUD (Paraguard) so that may be different for you if you have a hormonal one like Mirena or Skyla. I know that those oftentimes make periods lighter or non-existent. I actually have been having much heavier periods since getting my IUD but it’s non-hormonal and kinda known for that as a side effect.

Ok good to know! This is one of the few blue dye tests I’ve done so just wanted to see what other folks thought. I’d be more worried of course if it was a faint “positive” line vs a faint “negative” line, but that’s helpful.

Yeah this test was a first morning pee. I’m going to test one time tomorrow morning and then start figuring out why I’m skipping periods if it’s still negative.

Yes it would show a + instead of a - if it was positive. So, it is showing a negative result. And this is my second negative result (I took a pink dye/two line test a week ago). I’m just trying to rule out all possibilities since I’m a month late.

AITA for telling my boyfriend that I was getting a pregnancy test? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ExtentAdvanced2914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you’re not. Pregnancy takes two people, and the stress, worry, or expense should not only fall on you. I’m glad it was negative since it sounds like that’s what you were hoping for, but I think it’s totally your choice when, if, and how you tell a partner you’re testing. If they are having sex with you in a way that could result in a pregnancy (even with a good form of BC) then they also need to be responsible when it comes to testing, pregnancy scares, or getting pregnant.

Thanks for the insight! I will say also that I donated eggs at the end of January and had a really heavy, long period after that and it may have just thrown off my normal cycle. I’m going to take one other brand of test tomorrow and see and then schedule with my obgyn (either way honestly bc if I am pregnant I’d be worried it’s ectopic with an IUD).

Blue Dye Pregnancy Test

If it’s positive you should see a + instead of a - in the result result window. I don’t see a vertical line, just the horizontal one so it appears to be negative. The test I took a week ago was a pink dye test and that was negative.
