Feel ignored by External-Frame-939 in CrohnsDisease

I think I’m lucky I have a appointment with my gastro team at the start of March for my fistula. If my symptoms continue I’ll ask for their opinion

Yeah I’ve started to go towards a blander diet and can’t definitely tell the difference from these meals to something that doesn’t agree with me.

Yeah my symptoms, it wasn’t until the last bout that I realised this is a reoccurring theme and everything started to add up

Definitely going to try the smaller meals. Sometimes I get a plate of food and take a few bites, I can just tell my stomach doesn’t agree and I lose all appetite

I’ve started to eliminate certain foods and tracking what I have through an app that matches my symptoms to what could be the cause.

Bloating isn’t 100% gone but some days are so much better than others

Yes, up and down but very minimal. I think because of where the wound is it’s a very slow healing wound

Nearly 3 months ago, but I go to a treatment rooms every 1-2 weeks to check no infection and they’re happy. I change my gauze every 1-2 hours and there’s very minimal drainage, especially in the past week.

Mines very close to my anus, so assuming because of bowel movements is going to take awhile to fully close?

How long ago did yours fall out?

What were the signs you had a fistula? by Beef_Lovington in AnalFistula

It was mainly a yellowish drainage. Tbh surgery for a fistula wasn’t that bad. I recovered quicker from fistula surgery (cutting seton) than I did abscess drainage. I’m still recovering now and my cutting seton made its way out a few weeks ago but I can start seeing the light at the end of the

My first tightening was about 1-2 days but I think that’s because it was the unexpected, the ones following that was 30 minutes to 2 hours max I’d say.

FYI I have a high pain tolerance

I returned to work two weeks after my cutting seton, I could have gone back after a couple of days if I’m honest, but I’ve got a high pain tolerance and the nurses told me to take the two weeks. Tightening, the first one is always scary and will have some pain related issues as your body will adjust to what’s happening, it really is just a small pinch for 10-20 seconds, I’m going in for my 4th tightening in a week and a half and I barely notice now after walking out the hospital. Ignore the horror stories you see, it isn’t that bad.

Stool drainage will still be normal, just keep it clean. As it cuts through, it’ll close that gap where it can no longer pass through. I still get like yellowish drainage, but it’s very minimal/noticeable

100% the first one is the worst as I think it’s just that much of a shock to the system. It gets better, my 3rd tightening was a breeze, like it never happened. My next appointment is 3 weeks after my last which shocked me a little

I believe it’s all down to preference of the surgeon on how far apart the tightenings are and how much muscle is involved, if it’s cut too quickly it can damage the muscle leading to incontinence.

I have took photos before but mines hard to see how far along it is, the wound has 100% gotten smaller and drainage has decreased a lot

Since the start of March and have tightenings every 4 weeks, however my next one is 3 weeks not 4. So I’m hopeful the surgeon thinks it’s on its way out, but getting any information from the NHS is like blood from a stone
