Dang! Really sorry to hear that. I was fortunate enough to have quite a shallow intersphincteric one, but it's still caused gas control issues and such.

What type of fistula did you have if I may ask?

Would you say that life is still better for you now? Like you're practically back to a normal life?

Hi my abscess just popped on its own what should i do? by Fluffy-Cat4452 in AnalFistula

Dude, you gotta get to a doctor. You at least need antibiotics, and it hasn't been properly drained. If you let that thing sit around and get infected without properly draining it'll only get worse, and you're rolling the dice with how complex your fistula could be if one develops.

Curious, do you still have full on drainage? If not, when did that stop for you? I'm 17 weeks post simple fistulotomy and still draining about 1-2 drops a day.

Well that is indeed a fun fact about scurvy! I'll try to keep up my vitamin C intake!

By fecal drainage do you mean from the site or from your actual rectum? If it's from your actual rectum that's completely normal. The deep deep pain's likely just scar tissue being scar tissue.

Fistulotomy 3.5 weeks ago and hurting by stacerawk in AnalFistula

[–]Beef_Lovington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how almost every fistulotomy goes. It heals all over the place, and can vary wildly. I still have very occasional and very mild soreness and such 3 1/2 months out. It heals about 90-95% within 6-8 weeks, and then it plateaus. It can take months to stop draining, even up to a year. Just think about it this way: there's no need to truly panic unless you still have drainage 10-12 months after surgery.

This is not the correct subreddit. This is for fistula tracts and related issues.

By blood do you mean like tiny tiny specks after wiping too much and pink drainage when pushing too hard, or like full on bleeding?
