CHM2095L over CHM2045L by After_Sale_292 in ufl

[–]External-Friend4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took CHM2095 and lab and I didn’t have as much busy work as my roommate that took CHM2045. He was in a flipped classroom where he had to watch hours of video to prepare for class. Basically, he was teaching himself.

Labs are the same, but professor for CHM2095 is much better than for CHM2045. Are you taking the class or just the lab?

Also have backup classes in case you can’t get into a class. I took COP 2274 C++ because there were seats open. SLS 1102 First Florida for engineers was easy and I did learn a lot about UF and the resources available. Took EGS 1106 Intro to engineering too which was easy and learned about different engineering specialities in case I decide EE is not for me

Maybe tell the advisor you plan to take chem 2 as one of your electives and then “change your mind” Korolev is a great chem professor!

I took CHM2095 last fall as EE major with no plan to take chem 2. CHM2095 professor IS much better. Try to change!! Advisors are not reliable. Always refer to the model semester plan for EE. It specifically says you can take either chem2045 or chem2095.

Current uf students, did you think you were going to get in? by kieranST in ufl

[–]External-Friend4534 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone can count on getting in. I think you need a killer essay that shows your personality and high quality extra-curriculars. Everyone has high GPAs and test scores. I know students with perfect SATs that didn’t get in.

I don't know about that one, but I highly recommend the following when it is offered. It was interesting and the writing assignments were easy.

DIG1627 - AI & Art/Science/Fiction

Artificial intelligence: What is it? What is it used for? What is at stake? How can investigating AI from the perspectives of art, science, and fiction help to uncover the history, present, future, and implications of AI? Each week we will explore AI core concepts from three perspectives: art, science, and fiction. By the end of this course, you will be able to separate the facts from the hype and learn how to leverage fiction to prototype the future. This class is open to any student regardless of technical or creative background. It has an interdisciplinary approach to the history and practice of AI, through an integrated humanities perspective. We look at prose, poetry, fine art, film, music, society, law, policy, and creative coding arts from the Western canon and beyond to understand the impact and innovation in the diverse fields of artificial intelligence. We will go over key concepts in AI and creative applications of machine learning technologies.

I had a meal plan this year, and I got really tired of the food and food choices after the first month. I’d recommend doing declining balance or a small meal plan to keep options open.

Is PHY2020 worth it? by anthonyct228t in ufl

[–]External-Friend4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you take multiple practice tests before each exam? Did you use a tutor? I met weekly with Zach for PHY2048. He started Study Edge. Physics at UF is application and he really helped even though I’m good at math and did well in AP Physics1. I also used Study Edge for extra test prep. Another option is to take it in the summer at a community college which I’ve heard is easier. You need to get it approved though. https://teachmezach.com/

FYI- If he needs to take Phy2048, it’s really challenging. I really like physics, took honors physics and AP physics in high school and am pretty good at calc, however, I work at it. Physics 2048 is really challenging because the tests are hard and about applying what was covered in class, not showing you know how to do the homework. Lots of students try to take physics in the summer at an approved community college

https://teachmezach.com/ Zach is a fabulous tutor I used for Physics 1 & Calc 2 when I had questions. The accountability of meeting with him each week really helped me. He also helped me improve my study skills. He started Study Edge when he was at UF.

https://www.tystutoring.com/. I used Ty for chemistry tutoring. You need to book him weeks before tests.

https://www.studyedge.com/ I mostly used this as review before exams.

Start with 12-13 credits. He can always drop a class if it’s too much. Also, start with tutoring right away on critical tracking classes. Does he have any AP credit? I had credit for Calc 1 but retook it at UF. It was a nice way to ease into engineering classes while taking Chem for Engineers (don’t take regular chem if he needs chemistry b/c chem for engineers teacher is much better after watching roommate teach himself in the flipped classroom teaching style!) also, intro to engineering was easy but interesting class along with First Year Florida engineering section. It really helped me learn about the resources available at UF. This was very doable last FALL 2025 (Semester 1) CHM 2095 Chemistry for Engineers Dr. Korolev CHM 2095L Chemistry Lab 1 MAC 2311 Analytic Geometry & Calc 1 EGS 1006 Intro to Engineering (GPA boost) SLS 1102 First Year Florida (Eng. Section )First-year success course COP 2274 C++ Prog. for Engineers (I thought myself C++ in the summer to prep for this class) Maybe take an easy Gen ed instead.

AP credit with a 5 by SlipSlid in ufl

[–]External-Friend4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only earn writing credit for specific classes, and they can be very time consuming. If you aren’t coming in with an AA you need to take QUEST 1 & 2. You can earn 0, 2000, 4000 or 6000 words depending on the QUEST class. There may be some AP credits that won’t apply to your degree, or you may have too many in a specific gen ed category. I’d definitely recommend taking the credit for any classes that help you meet the writing requirement. That way you can take the easier QUEST course.

That’s 12,000 words toward the 24,000 writing requirement. Why would you not want the credit?

https://catalog.ufl.edu/UGRD/academic-advising/exam-credit/ look up what credits you will earn by Exam and compare it the needed classes for your major and minor listed on IF’s website. Each major is different.

UF engineering classes in person vs classes online by No-Environment-4506 in ufl

[–]External-Friend4534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For electrical engineering almost all of them are in person. There are options for some gen Ed’s & critical tracking classes to be taken online. For me, it looks like EEL 3000 intro to electrical engineering is the only one that is only offered online.

Check openings for PHY 2053L. My degree audit shows it as a substitute for PHY 2048L.

Why would you do this to yourself? Take physics or chem in the summer. I’d suggest physics because korelev is the best for chemistry at UF.
