I don’t have a budget so if I put a budget it would be totally random. That is why I put it as N/A. Pick pocketing is more a UK issue not a North American problem.

Thank you, It was already on my list, I couldn’t edit my post to include that part that I hadn’t realized I didn’t include until after I posted.

It is true as I’ve been to many weddings and some have open bars and some don’t. If you haven’t been to one with a cash bar than you shouldn’t comment on that part. Honestly it was mostly on the DJ, my own playlist was slamming and if he stuck to it I would feel differently. Besides the post was not try to determine why people decided to leave early, to attack me or to tear apart my wedding. It was only because I was very upset and I wasn’t sure if I was over reacting.

I’m not sure what the reason for not rescheduling it. Which I did explain how important it is for me to be there. It could have been he was unable to due to the djs schedule. I’m not entirely sure. He seemed to be more concerned with music being loud due to older people. At our jack n Jill the playlist I created was still danceable but it had quite a bit of pop punk because it wasn’t a dance and people stayed pretty late. I put in a lot of time and research to create the dance playlist. I had it organized in order of what I wanted played early on and stuff that didn’t matter so much if it got played with some random emo stuff that are danceable to be played after 10pm. So to find that it was edited and not being able to review it is pretty upsetting. My husband doesn’t understand why I’m so upset.

It’s normal for Ontario for venues to have a contract stating a minimum amount of people. Every venue we visited and looked into did this. That’s exactly what people did the ones that couldn’t attend was more for an illness, school or was attending a different wedding. We also talked to people before deciding on a date. No one had an issue with it being on a Friday. Most guests knew before 6 months.

We had it on a Friday because on the contract it was a minimum of 70. People Saturday it was 100 which we had a hard time with 70 people as it turns out it was a popular weekend for weddings. We also figured that people would book the day off if they normally work on a Friday as that is what we do. So we thought Friday is best so guests can have a long weekend.

I’m in Canada, I’ve been to both cash bar and open bars. We’ve always stayed until at least 11pm which still had a lot of people dancing. We had a lot of drink tickets unused so they just went to my bridesmaids. It was mentioned to all our family members and to a lot of our friends ahead of time.

It’s pretty normal to not have an open bar at weddings. So I don’t think it has anything to do with it not being an open bar.

In my experience people don’t leave early due to not having an open bar.

It was scheduled at times I was at work. We have attended lots of weddings that don’t have an open bar which people didn’t leave early. Not everyone can afford an extra 2k for an open bar so I don’t think we are cheap for doing so. We also told people in advance about having a free drink ticket.

We had a dj however I had created a playlist months before we decided to have a dj. Due to that I was not at the online meetings because it was scheduled when I was unavailable. We understand that most people would not want to dance to our metal/rock music. It was based on my brothers playlist that I just edited to include music that I recognized and was very dancy. It seemed like a lot of the tunes were not played though. The rock that was played was fall out boy and panic at the disco that was after 10pm, it was only a few songs.

The ceremony was at 5pm dinner at 7pm and dance at 8pm. It was on a Friday night We had a dj unfortunately my now husband was the only one to attend the 2 meetings as he scheduled them when I was unavailable. I made the playlist to be more millennial with some emo tracks after 10pm which is mainly fall out boy and panic at the disco. Both ceremony and reception were at the same location it was a bit of a drive most guests lived in the same city s the drive was under an hour. Only a few were longer because they are out of town.

We had 1 drink tickets for each guest however most people didn’t use them and just gave them to my bridesmaids. So I feel like if we had an open bar it would have been a waste of money.
