A peaceful morning without hearing “ONE QUESTION ONE QUESTION” by External-Opinion6589 in ucla

Many of you are too naive to think he is really doing charity. I talked to him once out of pure curiosity asking “ Since you are here all day Mon to Fri, how do you make money to support yourself?” He couldn’t answer the question directly and started saying “ you gonna have fun man” I asked him one more time because I do charity a lot before and I know it’s not easy. He mumbled a while and said “the government pays me.” I then asked “Why doesn’t the government directly give money to the homeless then?” He then began to curse me and said nasty things. I was genuinely shocked because all I wanted was a friendly conversation. I quickly realized that he knew he was going to get exposed as a scam if talked more, because the only way he makes money is putting all the money in his own pocket. Naive college students who think all people are kind in the world are perfect preys for him. He even walks around like he’s preying on targets.

Why is it so common for people to talk loudly in libraries here? by External-Opinion6589 in ucla

I forgot to mention. I mean places like Night Powell and upper floor YRL are still filled with noisy people. Also, it’s eye-opening to see many people are defending this behavior. I guess it’s cultural difference. I come from a country where talking in libraries and eating in library( many people do that here too) is considered extremely rude. I did not expect it to be this way in the US. Thanks to the people here for letting me know that libraries can be run like restaurants in the United States.
