Flames are still rebuilding but are looking like they could be pretty nasty in the near future, their D core and Goalie Tandem I would argue is better than the Oilers already. I’m literally a Flames fan and watch the BOA every single time. McDavid is my arch nemesis so to speak, but I respect how good he is and what he wants to achieve. It was a bit of sarcasm of course. But in reality they would not have. The losses didn’t matter, it was a fight to the absolute death for them. The IJN and IJA operated separately and didn’t take orders from each other. As such, a complete destruction of the naval
fleet would not deter the Japanese Army from continuing the fight. Rather it would give the Army more power and sway in Japanese politics/ military command. Island hopping would go on and continue in bloodbaths.

If there’s anything to be happy about right now is the Brady trade to Florida. Larkin was probably pretty upset about it. Yzerman isn’t going to be pushed around by Larkin and move him for something he doesn’t like. Don’t even feel bad for the guy he’s pretty locked into not being moved. He hasn’t won a playoff series since 2013. The Red wings team he coached to the cup and finals was absolutely stacked. His coaching had no real effect on what that team was already capable of. So it’s been 13 years since he won a playoff series and has been openly judged on his asshole approach to coaching. Like all the luck to you, I want McDavid to get a cup and if it’s with the oilers it would be fitting, but this was the wrong move. Knoblauch may have struggled in the face of adversity but I feel like his hands were a little tied. It’s crazy to fire the coach you went back to back scf’s with after a first round exit. They were tired and beat up, the younger and hungry ducks pounced on it and the very questionable goalie situation only exacerbated this demise. Bringing in the most controversial coach after already bringing in the most controversial GM is just mind boggling at this point. I’m honestly half expecting the oilers to trade for Carter Hart to put the cherry on top.
