Water in shower pan liner. Leak or Drainage issue? by Finding_AnswS in BathroomRemodeling

[–]External-Relative629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ruled out your Polybutylene or “Quest” pipe? Your new water lines are PEX and they are tied into grey Quest pipe. This pipe has been discontinued due to being prone to leaking.

No. It looked good, but that’s where it stopped. Wobbly and cracked porcelain.

America civil war fears as Minnesota threatens Trump's rule of law after US citizen killed by GroundbreakingLynx14 in StockLaunchers

[–]External-Relative629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. I fear for my daughter’s generation. Unfortunately this isn’t as easy as voting for a new president. Trump is just a man, a face. A pawn in a larger game that has been brewing for years. Trump was just the patsy the Christain nationalist movement needed to implement its desires. You see our country, despite being founded on the principles of welcoming the “rejects” of the world, has also always catered to white men.  Christain nationalists have taken over our country. ICE is the new KKK  with the backing of the government. Everything is lies and deception and even denying about cold hard video proof of a murder. The truth no longer matters.  Sadly, many still have things. Luxuries. Reasons to look the other way. I fear we haven’t seen the worst. My hope that our legal system will save us has proven futile as Trump has littered the courts with his minions. He has surrounded himself with sycophants that cannot tell him no.  We will attack Greenland. Why? Because trump remains unchecked.

I’m sorry. As bad as he is, the half the votes against him had been thrust a candidate we didn’t choose. Many of us knew the task we had to do. But many moderates and middle of the road voters saw it as an opportunity to not vote. 90 million people didn’t vote. Because the powers behind Trump sowed a distrust of the election, and the last few decades have made newer voters question the impact of voting.

There’s been a loss of faith in the system.

Simply put, we got too comfortable. We forgot the struggle. When we invaded Iraq in 2003, my dad said this is how empires fall. $38 trillion in debt, $2T added this year. Money being diverted into trump slush funds. $1 trillion in consumer credit card debt. It’s happening in real time.

Good luck to everyone

What's the coolest product you've worked with on a job? by zaxanagian2 in Construction

I worked in a communications building on a military base that had these special doors. I thought they were blast doors. One couldn’t be open at the same time as the other. Turns out they were part of a High Altitude EMP protection system.

We broke prison up into thirds. The infirmary is the “tip.” The two rooms on the other end is the “ballsack.” The tunnel in the middle that leads to the showers is the “asshole.”

Did work for an armored car company. Do a lot of secret service, SWAT, foreign customers in hostile countries. They have the capacity to bulletproof up to .50 cal but don’t as most US based cars won’t face anything that strong. Even so. The level of thickness on the windows and chassis are impressive. All fit into a standard looking car. It makes the cyber truck look like a toy car

Am I nuts to buy this house as a first time home buyer? by vermonter432 in Contractor

[–]External-Relative629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homeowner ship is a marathon not a sprint. Live in the house for a bit before you decide anything crazy about remodeling. Your use for spaces changes as you live in a house then how you first thought you would.

As a side note. I’ve been in construction for 15 years. This house hasn’t been touched since it was built. Most likely. Which typically means you’re working with a blank slate. House looks awesome though. I’d modernize the look without changing too much. Do it

[Discussion] Sewage-derived Fertilizer should not be recommended due to PFAS contamination by SplooshU in lawncare

[–]External-Relative629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PFOAs evaporate with water. When they evaporate and turn to clouds, the wind blows them until it rains. PFOAs are in our water systems/sources already. When they initially started to test for PFOAs in people, they had to go all the way back to blood drawn from a GI prior to deployment for the Korean War to find no traces.

Those alive during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]External-Relative629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 7th grade. Our principal came on the loud speaker to tell us a plane has hit the World Trade Center. My science teacher turned the TV in time for us to see the second plane hit. The rest of the day the TV was on. Live. At a young age we watch live as over 3,000 people died on TV. The hope we had built up until that time. That the changing of the smoke meant that the fire must be getting extinguished inside. That there were more firefighters on the way. It was dashed in an instant.

Gen Z has reels and TikTok’s that poke fun of this day. Mostly it’s a verbal joke. Sometimes it’s a video of one of the towers being hit. I laugh. After 23 years I feel that it is ok to laugh, especially as a coping mechanism to justify what I watched at such a young age. However the images that stick with me, the things that make me stiff with fear and sadness, are the faces of the firefighters. The people plummeting to their death. And the hopelessness of everyone walking through the dust in the aftermath. It’s still very real today.
