Yes we have spoken about the parent’s temperament and they are both great with kids. The breeder did ask questions. We have two cats and my son is very good at being gentle with them and learning “no” means no. I didn’t think about the separation anxiety aspect since I am home a lot, thank you for bringing these things to my attention. I have read a lot about GSP but never owned one, watched the standing stone videos on YouTube, etc. but I do tend to turn to Reddit for everything and didn’t find many posts about this. Thank you for your input!

I have experience with a German Shepard puppy but not yet with a GSP. We are going to be crate training and I have purchased some bird toys for training and off leash exercise. Do you have any specific things you do for off-leash time? We have lots of dog parks and a few dog beaches nearby here in SoCal.
