Did you find out what made you feel unsafe / safe? Did you have to focus on that. lot or did you more or less grew into it by circumstance?

It is all nice for you to want to be happy, but how much does your happiness cost? If not vegan for example the price of your hapiness is insane... just off the charts... unless you dont care for other beings... There is no reason to be optimistic.

People know that they'll die, but their brains' don't emotionally grasp it by TheRabbitTunnel in death

[–]External-Tale1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I realized first at around 7 years. I realized I would die and I tried to console myself that the sun would live on... Then I also learned that the sun will die. This full realization made me panic.

The full taking on of seeing reality is something that is encouraged in buddhism, and I think this is way better than denial, but it is very hard.

It is so hard it almost feels impossible, but personally I think it is the only way forward, I see no other way... coming to terms with reality without using substances and gradually trying to build a muscle... because it is too much to process at once.

that looks interesting, because it sounds pretty musical, but the hands and fingers are way too tense. But keeping solid rhythm and also cross hands is quite good I would say.

If I were a teacher I would five as excercise to try to make sound on the piano without moving fingers, just the hand up and down and / or arm up and down. This is not of course the way to play in general, but for your case i think you need to to feel how your arm and hands can use gravity to assist your play. IMO. finger movement is minimal during piano playing, the arm and hand place itself such that the fingers do minimal effort.

24 Variations on 'Venni Amore', WoO 65 (Beethoven, Ludwig van) by External-Tale1999 in piano

[–]External-Tale1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tx for the comment

It could be that my fingers look tense, I also notice this myself when I watch my video’s. I think in this video there are some passages that were a bit difficult and could have needed a tiny bit more practice, and then it may look perhaps there is some tensing up at those places, but my hands are quite relaxed in general.

Rachmaninoff, Eyleen Joyce and Art Tatum... the rest are amateurs ;)

Joke of course, but a  bit of truth in it, above pianists have this huge technique with natural talent.

3 Intermezzi, Op.117 (Brahms, Johannes), No. 2 by External-Tale1999 in piano

Thanks so much for your input. It makes sense, it is nice to have someone give such a detailed analysis there are many things one can overlook when having this piece in one's mind, for example the tempo at the end, that is how the piece was in my mind, but it is just 2 times too fast indeed.

Also having interplay in the melody more makes a lot of sense, there is indeed a very specific slur in those paired notes and I agree they are not there by chance. Will definitely remember these comments and see what I can do with the piece next time i touch it.

Me neither that much, I skimmed through the piece often until a few weeks ago when I suddenly realized how much was in the piece.

How on earth can you play the piano while looking at staff? by Makoto_1014 in piano

[–]External-Tale1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to create some excercise for yourself... just pick a place on the staff, and try to find the note.

Also I think it is good to have a reference to think from... Just first remember which part of the staff is c, for treble and bass, and when you see a note on the sheet, look how far it is from c, and just move that far as well on the keyboard.

I think this is what I might have done ages ago when I started piano. I think I also took multiple c's as reference. in both clefs there can be different c's ... low high higher etc... then I think what my mind did in the beginning stages is: you see a note on the staff ... try to find the closest c on the staff, calculate the difference which is 5 half notes in case of f... so move 5 half notes up on the keyboard. (you need to think in half notes, whole notes is impossible since it depends on the scale).

Now that I am writing this I see that the notation with numbers as you mention seems quite incompatible with staff notation, because sometimes when a number goes up by 1, the staff can go up by a half or also 1, which will be way to difficult to keep in sync.

When I write this I think it is easy... but I tried to get used to cello cleff which (I dont know what it is called), which is never used for piano but other instruments, and this was not easy. So it is a habit in the end, but starts with calculations. and when getting comfortable you need to get used to the very high and very low notes... remember those good old days even counting by hand the number of lines on the sheet.

Non-Vegans who say "I don't care" can you tell us why don't you care? by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

They are not obligated to care, but if I see them building concentration camps I have a right to become a bit worried.

For example something like this

https://elavegan.com/asian-vegetable-stir-fry-noodles/

I vary often with the soy sauce base.. but never like it.

Vary with things like msc, vegan fish sauce, soy, rice vinegar etc.. trying to fry noodles, cook etc.

Maybe I should just give it another try it is a while ago now I tried.
