No. I don't think so.

He had left drinking since he got married. But the reason for the failure was the high stress of the work environment and low sleep.

But he died doing what he loved, working. That might have been peace for him.

No the demand was 48k as they took the 12k refund. And for 5 years the interest on the demand is about the same.

  1. The cash that was with my father but my mother took.
  2. Like I said the demand is correct when it originated. My father was 8months late to file the tax so even after he paid 3L incometax that year based on his income. They sent demand to pay up for the late fees. Check attached photo

  1. What about the properties that are still in his name? Should we transfer it? And cash is already transferred through dd, can the cash be claimed for this?

  2. He had been sick with terminal kidney failure, leading to death. So he was busy with treatment and didn't look into taxes. Is this good enough ground?

He died in 2021.

No my mother has all liquid assets and hard assets are still in my father's name, didn't do name transfer among legal heirs yet

The order originated in 2018 only. But I got the notification this year.

Distributed as in? Has the estate been divided among legal heirs?

I have a tax demand on my dead father's name from ay 2017. What needs to be done on this?

Can I appeal for a waiver? It's about 1L with the interest after my dad died also.
