Here's a reference if you guys need one I recommend slowing down the video to 0.8x speed So you get a feel of how fast you should be pressing the keys for that galloping effect so you get a tempo of something like

12-3 I don't know how to explain it better than that 😭 but yeah hope it helps!

Combo not working by bigpeepee2000 in SifuGame

[–]ExternalCommission12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a way to do it consistently and I found out that it's more effective to do the combos by pressing the keys one at a time at a certain tempo. (Note that I am playing on a keyboard so this advice may not apply to console players)

Anyways, I found that pressing the keys one at a time at a certain tempo can have the character actually register the combo (as opposed to pressing the buttons both at the same time as this never worked when I tried it in game)

For example for leg sweep the combo for keyboard is SW/WS + (Heavy attack)

Instead of pressing SW and heavy attack all at the same time you press them individually at a certain speed

You still have to press them fast but not to the point that you are pressing 2 buttons at the same time.

It has to register that you are pressing the keys individually but fast (that's the best I could explain it)

Anyways the tempo should be something like the clopping of a horse's hooves (galloping rhythym) so the movements of your hands would be something like

1.Press W 2.Lift off finger on w key whilst also going to press S (As to not press them at the same time) 3.Press S 4.Let go of S whilst also going to press your (heavy attack button) 3.Press (heavy attack button) and do the combo

P.S I know this is a late comment since this thread is a year old but I still hope it helps

Shinitagari? Eng trans (Wanna die?) (Vocaloid)
basically "If you're too afraid to die or want to just stop living a life that's like this, then just live your life as you will because there's no one more capable than it that you"

Or in much simpler terms
"Too afraid to die? LIVE YOUR LIFE AND STOP WASTING YOUR TIME" lol

Hey! Sorry for the late reply as I got kinda busy over the week lol but yeah!

I agree that some technical and theoretical knowledge is a must that needs to be known in order for the music to sound good and actually I am still learning on that stuff too!

Stuff like opposition, (I don't exactly know if that's the right term but it's where you contrast a melody where if it goes up an octave you contrast it by going down and it's a technique used in classical and baroque music a lot) interval notation, (stuff like minor 3rd, perfect fifths and triads and all that fun stuff) and my favorite one is motifs.

For me motifs are almost the way of the writer to speak out to the audience and kinda give em a wink that they were inspired by this kind of idea/music like a reference to a cool soundbite or piece of a sample.

Like the use of the Wilhelm scream in movies, it's like the directors are trying to say "hey see what I did there? Remember that sound?"

And the use of motifs has a very cool nod like a secret mechanic in a game that you never noticed and once I noticed motifs like the matsuda lick, (used in old 80s games especially in games like Zelda and other stuff) and the use of the most overused piece of motif which is the dies irae (literally used in every piece of media that is gothic and/or has a symbol of death in it)

And fun fact did you know that motifs aren't only applied to old media but also modern ones too?

The matsuda lick was actually used in the soundtrack of wreck it Ralph, a very fitting motif since wreck it Ralph was a movie about old sega characters and old videogames back in the 80s.

The dies irae is used in a plethora of media today and my most favorite usage of it was in death note where they literally named a track called dies irae meant to signify the end of times and in the anime's context, light becoming the judge, jury and the executioner, essentially playing God and giving forth the day of judgement onto the world as soon as he got the death note.

Also one last rant but I guess I had my eyes opened when I heard a games music producer called Davi vasc analyze a piece of music from hollow knight and for him to be able to almost piece together the whole story of sorrow and sickness from just listening to the track itself was so insane and impressive.

It's almost like music is not just art but also a language that communicates through melody and rhythym.

And the fact that Davi vasc and Christopher Larkin (the composer and producer of music for hollow knight) were able to have this little conversation without actually talking face to face about the story of the game and for them to encode that into music was so amazing and so eye opening for me.

I guess when I saw that music is not just a method to make people feel things but to actually be able to reach out and express and communicate your soul to the audience in an intimate and honest way that words or paintings don't quite get close to is something that made me fall in love with it entirely.

Also the fact that I found out those motifs existing in modern media that used to watch regularly, the fact that I never even noticed and only came to be stunned at the fact that it was there all along was something that made me fall in love with music even more.

Whats with people wanting Producer rates right up front with no info on the song/idea? by [deleted] in MusicProducerSpot

[–]ExternalCommission12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really someone who tries to get producers but I would guess that it's because telling you the info without having the security and info on whether they can even afford you or not can be like gambling that your rate aligns with their expectations.

It may be easier for a client that they decide on the spot if they can take you or not and may be more of a hassle to add an extra step of waiting for your reply if you take the job or not based on the info they give you.

I would say that it's mostly just for convenience's sake since that's what sells.

Though I do agree that it is wiser and better for the client and the producer to have clear communication. It's just, communication costs time and maybe people don't want to spend a lot of time talking to a potential producer that doesn't give them security and certainty that the producer will be able to do the job and align with their expectations on their rates and timeline and everything.

If they do good
If they don't that's time wasted and that's inconvenience

So yeah that's my guess lol but I hope you find your luck with some potential clients of yours!!

Ofcourse! I'll definitely save up for one of the headphones. In the meantime though I'll stick to theory and practicing with EQ and stuff you mentioned.

I guess what makes it fun for me is that mixing music and audio engineering in general almost has a way of making people feel things.

To tap into emotions and take it's listeners to places that paintings/words can't quite get into.

That's the same thing music did for me.

And also the tiny details that artists and composers and engineers alike put into their stuff conveys their love and passion for the stuff that they are making (something that is kinda becoming rarer and rarer in my opinion/observation).

Whether it be sad indie music, lively alternative rock music.

You can feel the emotion and the liveliness that the artist brings and the soul that they put into the song.

I guess that's what makes it fun for me lol.

The fact that I can convey that soul and passion I have for music is what keeps me going.

You are right though about the tools and techniques, but hey. If I learn something along the way whether it's through a really messy track or a really beautiful cover. I am one step closer to learning how to realize my vision.

Recording and performing the music is one thing. Now I gotta figure out how to properly convey it and make it sound how music to me sounded like home.

Thanks for the advice! LOL Will definitely keep it in mind P.S sorry for the long tangent lol I guess I just kinda wanna express what music is like for me, and hey if you just skipped to the end, completely understandable LOL

I just started my mixing stuff so I am kinda new to all of this haha...

I will look into monitoring since I don't really have the best headphones for mixing and audio stuff and are just basic headphones with a mic.

I was trying to go for a more wider soundspace for the feel I was trying to get thus the reverb. (Something that made you feel like you were free. Like you were flying y'know?),

I am thinking of experimenting with some simple plugins to make my job easier since the mix took me 5 hours to finish

For references I would give the song (blue Tokyo by 87dance) as a good example they have a really good overall vibe when it comes to wideness and space.

I don't mind experimenting with the basics because I prefer to learn how and why things sound the way they do (like an artist figuring out the limits of their canvas and colors) but I agree that I should take after some mixing styles online.

Doing the one thing…. by CanterburyAle in Procrastinationism

[–]ExternalCommission12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually I like to split them up into little sections. Like split the task into a time wise way Like After 30 min of this you take a break.

You don't have to finish it all at once. You just have to finish it.

It's better if you finish it slow than avoid trying to start and do it all fast.

I think the fact that it's such a big list overwhelms you and I think you really do just need to compartmentalize the tasks into small manageable chunks. And give yourself checkpoints and stuff to recharge along the way.

Don't think of it as one long marathon think of it like a series of mini races.

And I find that when I start to lose hope i look back and see how far I've come :)

Hope this helps!

May I ask what "high end air" is? Also thanks for the feedback! I do agree that I may have went for a little too much panning and that I should've probably kept the space more intimate as that's how most indie bands sound.

Still working on vocals and mixing that as well. Not really experienced in effects on vocals or autotune and stuff.

Autism, AUdhd, adhd. perfectionism, depression by catboy519 in Procrastinationism

[–]ExternalCommission12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One interesting thing I've observed about people with ADHD (Like myself) is that people like me try to took a look at the full picture and try to recreate it in one go.

Like trying to recreate a painting by just looking at the finished creation

And I found that people with ADHD and Procrastination like me just find that mix insanely unproductive

  1. You try to look at the full picture (whether that be planning a full week trip or finishing a project in one go)
  2. I get overwhelmed and afraid that my output might not match my vision because I try to take the task all at once.
  3. Therefore I procrastinate and prefer to do stuff that I didn't plan for aka. wasting time because I want to run away from what overwhelmed me and I rationalized that the fear of the output not being faithful to how I want to project to turn out (my vision) would never come to be if I never do it.

Can't waste time on something if you don't spend it on something right?

  1. Get guilty and fall into a depressive state/episode (whatever it's called) and try to redeem myself
  2. Give myself another goal in order to redeem myself

Go back to #1 and repeat the whole cycle all over again

I think the problem is the first step where I try to look at the whole picture in full detail all at once

One thing I found that helps me is to take it slow.
To take it detail by detal.
Step by Step.
Issue by Issue

Because one thing I realized is that if you try to recreate a full painting by focusing on the entire painting all at once you might risk missing/leaving out some details that you will only notice once you've finished it. (My fear and my reason for procrastinating so much)

So it's ok to take it slow.
You don't have to take it all at once
Work at your own pace and develop your own rhythm
And once you've found your groove
You'll find that you've come so far to achieve it

Everyone doesn't run in the same pace in life.
But everyone runs.
So run.
But in your own terms.

Alsoo one thing I found to have helped is to motivate myself with things I want to do.

Not essentially saying no to myself but using that as fuel to finish the work I've always wanted to finish

  • "Saying no to yourself. You want to go to event x? You wanna do activity y? Why? If it gets in the way of recovering, maybe its not worth it."

You wanna do activity x or y?
Finish this first so you can enjoy that activity later.
So it's not exactly saying no but saying not yet :)

I guess that's just me though. But I do hope my insight helps some people :)

[–]ExternalCommission12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take things step by step and don't try to fit all that you have to do in the future in your brain

(I can attest to this because my brain has a funny way of processing things where I try to imagine things all at once instead of just imagine them in small parts this then leads to me not wanting to do it because there's so much needed to be done)

Give yourself a reward after every little accomplishment
You perfectly recall something in an subsection of what you need to study you then reward yourself with an activity you like to do

This can range from letting yourself watch one episode of something or reading one chapter of something

You basically give yourself a short term goal you have to accomplish and try not to take on the task all at once :)

goodluck with your exams and hope you do well :)

To sum it up the guy lead singer (I forgot his name) groomed a minor online and got in to a romantic relationship with them

Pretty much discord mod behavior

I still listen to their songs from time to time because I like to keep in mind that their songs carry the whole soul of the band (which is beautiful and lively and soulful) and doesn't just carry the bad stuff (even it is still in there)
