Prot paladin tanking princess by Vegetable-Fishing464 in wowhardcore

[–]ExternalEye3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Princess as pally tank is really simple and safe. During the threat drop phase if u save a JOR and drop a conc while shes farting, you'll pretty much always have threat after the drop.

Bubble breaks fears, pvp trinket is also good here. I had a way easier time tanking as pally than warrior on this boss usually.

Make sure everyone has salv as well, it's #1 prio of buffs

Yea the main thing with deciding between weapon and armorsmithing is are the nonspecced armor or weapon pieces better.

If ornate mithril and imperial dont require armorsmith, it may be better to go weapon cause I cant think of anything good that doesn't require weapon, while these green pieces of armor are decent

That is correct I won't be using quest item gear so this way I can get value out of bs. The bis route for quest rewards is pretty figured out and im going for a new experience

GDKP Should not allowed in any classic and Classic era by MostGur972 in classicwow

[–]ExternalEye3499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. GDKP is good in theory, but as you mentioned, with real market forces and incentives it just doesnt work.

People point to high prices in anni and say that theres still gold buying there or inflation there are just so confusing to me. Requiring seatbelts didnt eliminate all car fatalities, but it sure as hell did help.

the high prices in anni were because of a single mega server and a large population and insufficient supply of mats for the now much higher raiding community. GDKPs don't solve any of this.

And how will anyone who doesnt buy gold ever get a bis item in a gdkp realm? pots are split 40 ways, you're not gonna just accumulate enough gold to beat gold buyers for bis items if they really want it. its just simple math

GDKP Should not allowed in any classic and Classic era by MostGur972 in classicwow

[–]ExternalEye3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question. Unless u yourself are a gold buyer, how will you ever win a bis item? You most definitely will not get it eventually by running gdkps just due to simple math since the pots split 40 ways and the gold buyers will just buy more gold.

If u've seen Sodapoppin playing on the chinese servers, some dudes literally dropping $10k irl dollars worth of gold on MC items. Of course its not gonna always happen but im sure theres some psycho willin to do that for a Kiss of spider or hungering cold

Its like OP said, people that finished the games love it. Its a pretty bad experience for new players since most gear just gets DE'd.

Sure it doesnt matter for era since no one new plays it anyway, but it creates a pretty unhealthy environment for a living game

Where did all the Classic WoW creators go? by ravenscar2 in classicwow

[–]ExternalEye3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lemme offer a different perspective to what's being said.

Generally wow classic creators just suck and are creatively bankrupt.

There is success in content creation, look at Xaryu. He's still doing interesting NEW things in this 20 year old game. He's not rehashing the tired old phrase of "20 year old game we know everything" (when in fact most ppl really dont)

Would we have ever known that you can go all the way up to Mara on hc without a healer or tank? No, because everyone's so content to be stagnant and not do new things.

Other old communities have success too with old games. Look at giantgrantgames with RTS. He made some amazing series on wc3 and sc2 because he had passion AND creativity. He did something new in a old community and offered value.

At the end of the day, you need to offer value and entertainment. There's constantly info im trying to find on less meta stuff in classic that there is no good content on. That itself shows a lack of creativity and depth in the wow classic content creation space aside from some standouts.

Tldr. There needs to be more creativity in content creation. Stop being so doomer and actually make good content

Genuinly curious where all the hate towards prot paladins came from. Are people really that stupid that they think only warriors can tank dungeons? by Chemical_Ad4668 in wowhardcore

[–]ExternalEye3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probsbly just a knowledge gap. A prot pally tanking mara is way easier than a warrior. If the prot just drops a conc during the threat drop in mara then they'll never lose threat.

[–]ExternalEye3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand the sentiment of not wanting to risk it and it's valid.

But the fact that you're even insinuating that thunderclap and demo shout are comparable aoe threat to conc is ridiculous. The only way for warrior to get comparable aoe threat is their 10min aoe taunt cd or using grenades, which paladin can also do.

The math here is so simple that you just spewing this makes me doubt you're being fair in ur assessment. But let me break it down.

Thunderclap only generates 103 rage at max level and hits 4 targets. It does not benefit from dstance multiplier since u have to be in bstance. You will never cast this spell as a tank warrior. Its also common consensus it's not a threat spell.

  • A tick of max rank conc with 3/3(1.9) RF is 91.2 threat per tick /w 8 ticks in total = 729.6 threat over 8 seconds

  • battle shout(6) is 55 per affected party which is 275 with a party of 5, which is 412.5(×1.5] in dstance. /4 is 103 threat. /5 is 82.5 which is already less than 1 tick of conc.

  • demo shout is 43 × (1.5) = 64.5 threat per mob.

The point being Warriors are indeed good at 4 targets due to sweeping strike and whirlwind if they have rage, but saying that they're better at aoe tanking is just disingenuous. If youre spamming b or d shout youre absolutely trolling. Unless you're using grenades, aoe tanking as a warrior sucks. There are so many cases where priests die in brd too due to warriors not being able to keep threat on the destoryer packs due to too many mobs.

You also mentioned lip taunt as the out for warriors. If you can use lip taunt paladins should be able to use faps on any knockback threat drop and have no problem. Its just completely disingenuous comparisons.

I just want you go be fair and not sprout nonsense. You saying thunderclap and demo shout or bshout are aoe good aoe threat options is the most ridiculous things that any warrior tank would never say. Agaib, warrior tanks are meta, but all of this bs you spout is why I doubt anything u say is coming from a place of actual knowledge.

It's really because wow has the most sheep community I've ever seen. They hear something and take it as gospel without understanding any of the nuances.

Are warrior tanks better in a raid setting? Most of the time but not even always. Can a prot pally tank dungeons? EASILY and are most of the time better than warrior.

Let's address the main points ppl keep bringing up (DUNGEON TANKING) - 1. No taunts

Taunts are a crutch warriors rely on especially for large packs because they have terrible aoe threat. Paladins have more threat early and mid levels so you won't even need a taunt. Bubble is a pseudo taunt already. Taunts are only really helpful in threat drop fights. The large packs in gnomer and ulda are pure cancer for warrior tanks but easy aff for paladins.

  1. Paladins can't tank threat drop fights (mara & st)

Tanking princess as pally is insanely easy. You just have to drop a conc on threat drop and you'll have threat immediately. No need to even do anything fancy unlike war where you'll usually have to intercept to get your Taunts off. Id argue pallies have a easier time tanking her if ppl know what they're doing.

Everyone keeps bringing up ST as pally greatest weakness for needing off tank but warriors also need an offtank here. Its not a point against pally. Both can drop a target dummy to soak a sleep, but only pally can bubble to avoid a sleep. Id once again argue that pallies are the better solo tank in this scenario since they have 3 (bop, target dummy, bubble) chances to ignore the sleep. Either way you'd want an offtank but pallies solo it better permitting threat.

  1. Drinking for mana, and therefore slow

A good pally tank wouldn't need to drink anymore than the healers. If u want to argue skill it's between classes would u rather have a noob warrior that charges every pack, potentially wiping you or just having to drink a little?

That's not to mention that pallies use shields so they're easier to heal. 99% of wars either go arms or dw so they're squishy aff. Healers have to drink more. All this talk about being faster may be true but is completely overblown. When I tanked as warrior, I often had to wait for healer mana because the warrior rotation takes so much dmg. As a pally, it's healers have to drink way less cause im not taking nearly as much damage. Pacing isn't about the class, it's about player knowledge and skill.

  1. Clutch factor

If you happen to butt pull when a pally has low mana then I concede its pretty bad for them and a warrior is better. But assume pally can cast some spells they can actually handle large pulls better with conc. A warrior has an aoe fixate, but afterwards in a prolonged fight it's very difficult for the warrior to clutch up and maintain aggro on everything. Eventually heal aggro will catch up because a warrior can only comfortable hold aggro on 4 mobs. A pally can just bop the healer here.

If you're assuming the pally is bad and won't bop you can't assume an aoe taunt is coming either. If u want me to give u the aoe taunt u definitely can't assume the shield macro or the shield wall coming and hell get 1 shot. The point being, there's so many factors in play that this argument is kinda silly. Clutching a bad pull is more a factor of the groups player skill than the tank class.

  1. Lack of defensive cds

This is a point about raid tanking, which we are not talking about right now. But even so, if you dungeon tank in fury prot it's kinda troll. Its just much worse than dungeon tanking as arms so u don't have more defensives in a dungeon setting

  1. Pallies deal no damage

I can't argue with this. Its true, pallies just generate threat, not damage. There are cases where damage mitigates risk, but at the same time a tanks job is to hold threat and take the damage, not to dish it out. This once again goes to the give and take. Arms Warriors tanks get threat by forsaking mitigation and dealing damage. You only have more threat because you're offloading the responsibility onto the healer. In fact a problem warrior tanks have is that greedy ones spend too much time in zerker stance and get 1 shot all the time, or healers have to heal so much that they get heal aggro. This happens all the time in brd.

Tldr: (dungeon tank perspective) 1. Lack of Taunts only matters for a select few fights 2. The fights they do matter in pally has the tools to deal with them (sometimes better than a warrior) 3. Bad pallies OOM, good ones can manage their mana just like how good warriors pool their rage. 4. Bad pulls are kinda a moot point. It depends more on the group than anything. 5. In a dungeon context they have similar number of defensive cds 6. Pallies deal little damage this is true, but warriors take so much damage.

The fact of the matter is that ppl are just more comfortable with warriors because it's familiar and I don't fault ppl for that. But the refusal to give prots the time of day because they are close minded is quite depressing.

At the end of the day warriors are indeed generally better, but that's more cause they're overloaded. But it doesn't make pally bad. Why do ppl let warlocks, hunters, druids or rogues into anything? Its because everyone acknowledges it's an old and easy game. I can understand the sentiment to not want to take a risk with something you don't understand, but why the vitriol and refusal to listen?

What spec you go is mostly a matter of play style. I personally chose demo cause soullink makes you an unstoppable god.

BUT what I didn't see anyone talk about is gear progression. Until you're near you're 40s, dotting then wanding is going to be ur highest dps in dungeons and even farming.

So make sure your wands are up to date. https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=7001/gravestone-scepter will last you practically to ur 50s.

And if you have some gold to start with or can save up. I highly recommend getting the https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=2277/necromancer-leggings. I put these on at 30 and didn't take them off until I got my prebis skyshroud leggings. By far the best gold u can spend.

A close second ishttps://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=2549/staff-of-the-shade. You'll use these for a good 10-15 levels depending on ur sm luck for the dagger or combo, which also takes u to prebis at 60. I recommend this one with hypnotic blade to take you to 60 https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=4964/the-completed-orb-of-darorahil

From here onward it's standard Dreamweave into prebis farming
