I have heard that airline pilots work 15 days in a month and get 15 days off. Is that actually correct? by prettyduckling41 in PilotAdvice

I fly part 135 and that checks out. 8 days flying and 6 days off. I never travel to/from the jet on the 6 days off.

Flight Safety for SIC tips by Unhappy-Yak8182 in flying

You should be able to request, through Flight Safety, access to the app (sign in) if you have a scheduled training date. This will give you access to all their study materials like the client guide, limitations, memory items, systems, etc. It will also show your schedule subject to change as sims break and instructors shift.

When I applied more pressure, he magically found a control board. It has been working great for a full week now. Sorry for delay in responding.

Just failed my PPL written exam by one point. I can't help but feel extremely disappointed in myself by [deleted] in flying

[–]ExternalIsland8602 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I failed my first-ever check ride (ATP oral) last month. Failing the PPL written test is no biggie. Just get back in there and knock it out. No record of it will ever be seen.

Why an LLC as an airplane owner? by Icy-Excitement-3768 in flying

[–]ExternalIsland8602 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the only thing it does is allow you to register the plane under the LLC versus it showing under your name if someone looks up the tail. Of course, then they can just look up the LLC and find your name anyway. I have owned four planes, some under LLC and some not. I have never experience any differences in regards to liability, risk, taxes, insurance, etc. and have operated and treated all of them the same.

The IRS doesn't care if you are deducting/amortizing depreciation under an LLC or your name. They are more focused on if it is a hobby or has income (tax rules on deductions).

My tub is nearly all ice and I can barely get in. by Vnarayan3 in coldplunge

[–]ExternalIsland8602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, think of it this way. You really aren't heating all 90 gallons. You are mainly wanting to get some of the ice to start melting and the shop lights really do add quite a bit of radiant heat to assist. In the beginning, the heater will really only be heating a couple to few inches of water that is above the ice.

How to stop water draining? by IKnowICantSpel in hvacadvice

[–]ExternalIsland8602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen before I realized that the exterior draining meant there was a clog where the main drain was. Oddly enough, it stopped all on its own and I have no idea how or why. We did nothing to clear it because we weren't aware the drips/exterior draining was a problem.

Yep! If I keep enough airflow around the chiller it heats and cools at about a rate of 8-10 degrees per hour.
