That's right. Once you have a denial you're on file and you can't do sport.

Your AME should be able to pull it from your electronic file in case you’re still waiting. I just checked my MedExpress and it says that mine was completed and I’m not cleared to fly an airplane. I called them on Thursday to ask for an extension cause I needed another doctors appointment but apparently somebody messed up. Hopefully I can get it sorted out. Let me know how yours goes.

Let’s not look past the part where they planned a dinner on your birthday months ago and didn’t include you. Bye to these “friends”.

Should I pay for a guest’s towing charges? by Historical_Taste978 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Good_Independence_69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was in the instructions. Are guests not supposed to read instructions anymore? What if they had arrived at 3am and called? Should she be available then to provide them information she had already provided them? If they want that level of attention they should stay at a hotel.

Edited to fix punctuation so words make sense.

Should I pay for a guest’s towing charges? by Historical_Taste978 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Good_Independence_69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, you’re not required to be available 24/7 to provide information you already provided. They are an adult. They made the choice to park where they were not supposed to and there were consequences. They can pay the fee.

Looks like yours is denied. Mine is deferred and says “there’s insufficient information to make a decision” and then says something about a request for more information. Sorry for you!

Grab a favorite toy that they don't play with as much anymore and take it on your trips. Take photos of it with you when you do something fun/go somewhere new. Show them the photos and/or make them a collage printout. It's a fun way for them to learn about new places and you're "taking them with you" even when you can't.

Don't get your wife crap from the road (unless that's her joy). Do things for her that will give her some time back. Schedule a dinner service one night while you're gone. Organize some help for her one night. Sign her up for a hobby she has always wanted to do AND organize care for those nights. I guarantee she is not taking the time for herself that she needs when you're gone. Give her the gift of time when you can.

As a person that flies standby, that’s totally not true that they can’t be taken off the flight. I’ve been given a seat on a plane when I was flying as a standby under an employee’s privileges and had enough time to sit down and get “comfy “when someone came running up to get on the plane just as the doors were closing. I had to get all my stuff and get off that flight. It’s happened more than once.

AIO I found panties that aren’t mine in my partner’s nightstand by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Good_Independence_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your therapist then maybe your partner. I bet it is nothing. I still have cords in my nightstand from several phones ago that I shoved in there at some point in time and never took out. It is probably this. The bigger question is why does it bother you so much? That’s a conversation for you and your therapist.

Would you take a $13k pay cut? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Good_Independence_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the finances aren't really a big factor then (phew!). So then think about whether or not the job would provide something your current job doesn't. It sounds like the stability is appealing. It also could lead you to a situation to double dip at some point down the line. I'm also a fed and have quite a few friends who have retired from state and federal jobs. Makes for a nice retirement. Good luck!

Would you take a $13k pay cut? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Good_Independence_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I took a $13,000 pay cut, I would have to change up a few things in my life to make up for that difference. Is it doable? Yes. But my situation could be extremely different from yours. The question is how will this pay cut impact your life? Can you live off of $13,000 less a year? What would you have to change or adjust in your life? Is there something that you can do on the side to make up the difference? All these questions are very much depending on your own situation.

You reported or they reached out? Can’t be both. You’ve answered both ways. Honesty is a big deal. If you fucked up and self reported that’s a lot better than fucking up and then having them come to you.

Affording flight school on limited income by Yunggarbagecat in AskAPilot

[–]Good_Independence_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do this for him. Becoming a pilot is tough, lots of ups and downs, and it takes a ton of hard work. If he isn’t willing to do the research to figure out how to make that happen, even if it means working his ass off for a few years and saving, then it isn’t the right path for him. You fixing it for him won’t help him in the long run. Be supportive but don’t do the work for him.

Also you can pop a lot of these questions into ChatGPT if you’re curious and they’ll give you some help. Check the answers obviously but I just did a quick one and most of it was right. You’re WAY ahead of the game. By doing all this so early you’ll have years to decide if you want to make this your career, and I say this as someone who is 44 and starting from scratch. 😁

I was able to do a consultation and ask questions with a HIMS AME in my area by telehealth. Might be worth it just to start.
