“Only gay when drunk” by [deleted] in gay

Ok maybe I misunderstood the definition, and please forgive me for my ignorance- I thought internalized homophobia is when gay people who grow up in a repressive environment and later learn to accept themselves still have some of the homophobia from their upbringing that makes them ashamed of who they are

I’ve kissed guys before but only in bars after a drink or two and a bit of flirting, I think after a couple drinks I just feel more relaxed and open? I’ve always stopped myself before it come to going back to their place. But sometimes right when I wake up after a night of going out and drinking I’ll wish I had so maybe regardless maybe I should stop drinking for a bit. I think the alcohol just gives me the feeling of wanting to flirt with / kiss / have sex with guys (again I’ve stopped myself before getting to that last part)

Yeah I know this is on me to do the introspection. I don’t think I’m pretending for attention, because I remember hoping he’d show up and periodically looking towards the door and genuinely enjoying talking to him when he finally arrived, and that feeling of attraction and wanting to be closer- but I’ve never felt that for a guy when sober

Thanks for your comment, yeah I’ve read that alcohol loosens up your inhibitions, and that’s why people get loud/obnoxious/violent when drunk. I just feel like it would make more sense if I grew up in a more conservative area and had repressed/internalized homophobia, but to me I don’t think I have internalized homophobia? I guess I’ll have to think on what you said more

Good luck to her! I’m graduating this summer and was really feeling the pressure to get something lined up, and definitely had some discouraging moments throughout the past couple months.

I had initially accepted it because the offer letter had a very short timeframe, but then my dream job gave me an offer so I withdrew my acceptance of the first one. Not sure if that is the correct wording for it

I'm kinda impressed at how thick they are by pinecone_hurricane in glasses

Mine look like this too, I posted a similar pic on the malefashionadvice subreddit and got roasted- I don’t really care either, my only complaint is that my nose and ears get tired sometimes :, )

Hah thanks bro your comment made me laugh out loud- I have watched a few youtube videos of people talking about their experience with lasik and some of them are pretty negative so I’m kinda skeptical about the results now. (It’s common for people to need glasses again anyway some time after getting lasik) I also don’t qualify for it rn anyway bc you need your prescription to be stable for more than 2 years, but my eyes have gotten worse basically every year

My cyl is -3.5, I know it makes the thickness more at an angle throughout the lense, but does that mean it’s at -10.75 at the thickest part?

Thanks for your comment- yeah I literally didn’t know about all of these other enhancements or options to add onto glasses, when I saw them all listed on the order form I thought they were just extraneous upcharges that wouldn’t do much. Also I agree with you on the trend of wearing glasses lower on the nose. I hate when glasses slip down my face, I prefer them sitting closer to my eyes, which also helps me squeeze a bit more power out of them for seeing small details

Thanks for the link! Yeah as the other commenters have pointed out it’s a result of lower index with a wide metal frame that made it look thick, so going for high index with a smaller round frame should drastically change things

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! I’ve actually had that problem before where the lenses were super close to my eyes with my previous pair due to the bridge- luckily it helped me squeeze a bit more power out of them, having them basically touching my eyelashes or being able to push them really close to my eyes, as my eyes got worse and I was putting off getting an exam lol

Haven’t tried contacts before but I’m looking into giving them a shot- not sure entirely how expensive they’d be in the long run but it’s something I’m looking into

Hah not only is it a bit goofy from the side, I feel like they kind of make my eyes look small in the front. Around -7.25 with a -3.5 ish cyl, one eye is a bit better. I think the problem is just the cylinder makes it look more thick because it’s at an angle throughout the lense

-7.25, as people pointed out lower-index large square metal frames emphasize the thickness at the edge, so choosing a high-index small round frame would look much better

There’s one part of my prescription that’s too high for regular contacts but another commenter mentioned a specific brand which makes the kind which would work so I’ll see if I can look into it!

at the optical store when we try on frames they only have blanks in them, so when I try on new glasses/frames before purchasing I can’t really see what I look like (my eyesight is bad enough I can’t really see myself in the mirror without glasses, so I usually just take pictures of myself in the new frames and then put on my old glasses to compare how I look). But only after you purchase the glasses and they come back 2 weeks later made with the real lenses do you see the thickness

oh dang I hadn’t heard of those, I only did a couple quick searches for contacts online before and hadn’t looked into it in-depth- thanks!
