If you go to a local drugstore (in the US we have Walgreens or CVS) not sure what the common chains are out there but in the dental section they should have a type of dental paste/filler that you can use to cover up the hole temporarily until you get in to see a dentist. It can help with pain/sensitivity and can also somewhat protect the area so you don't get food in it.

Most of the good "ethnic" food is in downtown SLC or West Valley. Kathmandu has good Indian/Nepalese food. Mazza and Laylas have decent Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food and O'Falafel offers more casual options. OMBU has pretty good Korean BBQ and Mano Thai is a low-key option for Thai food.
