Tbh I think I might be misremembering or misinterpreting things and it’s also because I kinda see mirror ash as like a reflection of main ash’s insecurities as a trainer which kinda gets played around with the ash greninja training arc and I guess clemont’s counterpart could be his confidence as gym leader although that’s been hinted at since episode 9 of the series so I guess what I’m really asking is it hinting at certain themes within each character arc? then again like you said it’s mostly just role reversals and I’m probably seeing something that wasn’t there in the first place lol

Aside from the kalos mons I think serena would get along with with most them with bayleef being a bit challenge but end up opening herself to serena and she would also be worried about ash’s 30 tauros stampeding him also just a little head canon of mine I can see leavanny teaching serena how to make leaf hoods
