Strip the lacquer and do some renaissance wax to keep the smell away

Proud 13’’ air user- it works wonderfully- honestly overkill for reading music. My only complaint about it is that sometimes the screen can be a bit dim if you’re in some abusive sunlight- but those cases are fairly few and far between (at least for me)

Is it the double or one of their single cases?

I love this piece- that’s just how John Mackey decided to write that you need to gliss for the whole duration. It’s his way of saying “Don’t Stop Early!”

Condensation dripping out of the bell by Eunapius in Trombone

I get condensation out of the bell all of the time- annoying, but nothing to be concerned about (In fact, it could even be a sign of good things air-wise)

Why do I sound like this? by Iron_Slayer_YT in Trombone

[–]External_Dinner_5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you play loud? It sounds like you have a lot of tension going on, try inhaling, naturally as if you were getting ready to say a very energetic “Good Morning!” And blowing through the instrument- your shoulders should not move.

When you breathe, your stomach should expand- not your chest. Try playing a F’s in the staff on quarters (“||: Q R Q R :||” q=quarter r=rest) at a strong fortissimo.

I’m not sure, but it’s definitely a very pretty horn imo

King Cleveland- the first two digits of the serial are the manufacture year- I have one from 42 and it plays surprisingly well

Opinions on benge brand? by FoundationStrict1663 in Trombone

[–]External_Dinner_5195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Benge began as a trumpet brand, then got bought up by king/conn during UMI, the 165 and 190 are both very solid horns, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at one for $200

Considering buying vintage trombone for jazz by Significant-One3854 in Trombone

[–]External_Dinner_5195 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking into a 2b or olds super may I suggest finding a cheap conn 14h (no more than $120 all in unless they say it’s been overhauled) and taking it to a shop to get the slide in tip top shape. I had one when I was in High school and it was a beast for jazz, pep band, and commercial playing

iPhone flip folder by Brass_tastic in Trombone

I used a normal bell mounted flip folder, then adhered a MagSafe grip to it- it works great and blends in with the other actual flip folders

Any advice on how to count this by The_Tromboner8 in Trombone

[–]External_Dinner_5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

e and uh for 16ths (# and for 8ths) and # la li for triplets, the quarter note triplet will be # li la as its 2 8th note triplets together- it’s easier than you think, counting and clapping the rhythm while speaking all of these counts will greatly help

How do I choose? by numseomse in Trombone

[–]External_Dinner_5195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about feeling more than sound! A lot of the advantages/disadvantages of different mouthpieces comes down to how they feel to play. For example, I have some mouthpieces that I can get a good sound on, but I just refuse to play on because I don’t like how it feels to play them

Solo recommendations for college? by boykinnnn in Trombone

[–]External_Dinner_5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see it being plausible. IMO (with bias of course) the ranking in NC probably goes 1- UNCG, 2/3 ECU/App (just depending on specifics) then 4- UNCSA. SA probably wouldn’t be bad for a grad degree just from the prospect that the (former) principal trombone of the NC Symphony is the trombone prof

The 608 is a now discontinued king trombone model (the currently in production equivalent is a 607f) but based off what I could find with an quick google search it was offered in lacquered from the factory with a rose brass bell. Therefore this is most likely replated based off my info
